Now its Unpopular Mechanics.
Popular Mechanics magazine has come under fire after publishing a detailed guide on toppling monuments.
Bring that sucker down without anyone getting hurt, the article posted Monday encourages readers, promising the best advice on how to topple a statue using science.
Author James Stout says his article is inspired by the worldwide attacks on problematic monuments tied to the legacy of racism amid ongoing protests.
Should you happen to find yourself near a statue that you decide you no longer like, we asked scientists for the best, safest ways to bring it to the ground without anyone getting hurt except, of course, for the inanimate racist whos been dead for a century anyway, the article says.
Mechanical engineer Scott Holland then advised how with about 70 strong friends protesters could pull down most statues with 4×4 recovery straps around the head or the neck.
Holland also suggested using a butane or propane torch to heat up the statue, saying, Youll be there for 15 to 20 minutes, but its a lot easier.

You know, because "justice".
At least one person was crushed by the Columbus statue, dead or permanent serious brain damage, I do not know because I couldn't stomach the story.
This is stupid and dangerous.
Which of course means Democrats love it >:(
That guy was seriously screwed up too...
Dang I hate it when felons get hurt.
Popular Mechanics really screwed up here.
There’s no defense of aiding rioters.
I’ve like Popular Mechanics and Popular Science since was a
kid. Looks like it’s time to sunset PM.
Maybe that's why PM wrote the article, so they can do it safely.

A good alternative is Mechanix Illustrated.
Two wishes. That PM Goes bankrupt. That the next one who topples a statue gets it on his head and his family sues PM.
Thanks for the mention. In my youth I subscribed to those three, PM PS & MI.
My dad subscribed to all three...my breakfast reading after the cereal boxes were mastered.
;>)
I still love my old late 80s issues, especially the cover illustrations.
Apparently the magazine got a dose of soy for the 21st century.
The criminal media is part of the warfare machine currently attacking the people of the United States.
JoMa
Those were the real mens magazines, as opposed to Argosy and True. Tools, motors, civil engineering and just a bit of science.
Picked through one a few years back at tbe supermarket...almost content free with a lot of white space within the articles...far cry from the early 50s editions with the numerous diy projects, the automotive trouble shooting/repair tips, and interesting articles.
I liked that era of PM and the similar mags.

There’s a lot to unpack here. But if this is representative of PM’s writing staff, the next stop is bankruptcy.
Another mag that went left long ago. I hope they go the way of teen vote and cancel it’s print.
Ancient Greeks and mechanics. Slave culture. Topple Popular Mechanics for having the word mechanics
mehkanikos. Popular Mechanics gives tribute to slave owner Greeks.
