The Washington Redskins haven’t changed their nickname yet, as the left wants them to do. Though, they have parted with one symbol due to its racist ties.
The Redskins have decided to remove the statue of former Owner George Preston Marshall at RFK Stadium. Under Marshall’s leadership, the Redskins were one of the last teams to integrate black players onto their roster. There have also been quotes attributed to him that have upset many.
Specifically, Marshall once reportedly said that he would “sign black players when the Harlem Globetrotters start playing white players.”

Is this correct? The Redskins have not played at RFK Stadium in over 20 years. Was there a statue of Marshall at FedEx field where the Redskins currently play? Was the statue at RFK Stadium and the DC government decided to remove it?

I’m still hoping for the team to go full troll, move the team to Oklahoma (Choktaw for [land of the] “red people”), and change their mascot to a big nosed caricature of George Washington. If the Washington Redskins doesn’t work, the Oklahoma Washington should satisfy.
Of course, if the protests over Washington’s slave holding become too much, move to Walla Walla Washington and change the mascot to a Redskin potato.

Blacks have ties to slavery. Many blacks owned slaves; 24% by one census count. They captured their fellow blacks in Africa and sold them into slavery. They started slavery in Virginia in 1655.
Maybe we should ban blacks since they have ties to slavery?

Funny...these folks are like the iconoclasts in a way. Removing all statues of sinners, repentant or not, leaves Jesus and Blessed Mary.
RFK was a shell in a desolate area I thought. I drove past it a few years ago.
Not good enough. Redskin name has to go too.
