Atlanta (CNN)Hours after a fired police officer was charged with felony murder for fatally shooting a man in the back, Atlanta police officers are not responding to calls in three of the department's six zones, multiple sources within the Atlanta Police Department told CNN on Wednesday evening. Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard earlier in the day announced 11 charges against Garrett Rolfe, who was fired after he shot Rayshard Brooks twice in the back on Friday night. A third shot hit a car with three people inside.
The police department said an unusual number of officers working the late shift had called out sick. The mayor said the city would be OK. "There's a lot happening in our cities and our police officers are receiving the brunt of it, quite frankly," Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms told CNN's Chris Cuomo. She said the city has committed to the officers through a big pay raise, and "we expect that our officers will keep their commitment to our communities."
She said she thinks morale is down tenfold.

What a lying sack of ****. Two, actually.
Partisan Media Shills update.
Hell no.
Tasers are less than lethal when used by a trained officer.
If a perp puts you into a 50,000 volt convulsion. The perp can easily take your gun and end your life.
Self Defense acquittal, coming.
If he does not get a fair trial in that county then this should go all the way to the SCOTUS
Democrat mayors intentionally stand with violent thugs against lawful citizens, tell their cops to stand down while cop cars are burned, then try to guilt-trip cops into ‘honoring their commitments’?
Disgusting. Gimme a break.
NOT ONE REPUBLICAN city is burning... Riots and abuse of cops is a democrat stunt.
My response was to a comment on the Floyd case, not the one in Atlanta.
The cop murdered Floyd... take another look at the video.
The cop’s job is to determine if a law has likely been broken and to deliver the person to the next level of justice (court system) where a final determination will be made.
It’s NEVER the job of a cop to be jury and executioner.
Yes, sometimes people die when resisting arrest, but that was NOT happening with Floyd. He was NOT resisting and there were 4 cops to one incapacitated man. The cop murdered the Floyd... really take another look at the video.

Hope these guys can find jobs in conservative cities or towns . They deserve it.
I hope you are correct. He should also sue the city for false arrest and charges, get a huge settlement and then tell Atlanta to go F themselves. I hope the police there continue to not respond in certain sections. I don’t feel sorry for them at all. They have made the bed that they must lie in.
They'd be much happier... and those of us living in conservative States would have a few extra voters... It's a win-win.
So white on camera and with people yapping and yelling at him, he tried and succeeded basically strangling a guy with his knee.
I get how nasty the whole thing looks. But unless the guy is both a sociopath and total idiot (or totally enraged by whatever Floyd did prior, which we haven't seen on camera) ... ... I just don't buy it. Sure there's a chance of it, but I think it's more likely he executed an approved restraint against a guy with possible exited delirium.
As far as I'm concerned -> it's going to be much worse for the country if he's found innocent or of involuntary manslaughter or less ... but I'm not buying intent. NOT ON CAMERA with people yap yapping. Doesn't add up. I can even accept he's totally capable of 1st degree murder. That is, I'm not arguing or Chauvin's kindly heart. But you watch that thing and he is unphased. My best guess is what's going through his mind is "my neck hold isn't going to be the the thing that kills him, it's approved, I don't want to hold down this scumbag with my hands in the middle of covid but I DO have to restrain him, I'm certainly not going to extend any extra care for him, the ambulance is on his way, so I'm holding him her with my knee in a city-approved restraint and I'll let the medics deal with whatever the hell is going on with him."
That's how I explain a guy doing what he did, without any emotion WHILE ON CAMERA and knowing he was on camera. Otherwise, he not only committed murder but did so knowing he was ruining his life - which one might do if totally enraged. He has no expression on his face suggesting any high emotion.
Here's the ONE murder explanation I could see -> whether he ever says it or not ... "I've been dealing with this for so long, so tired of it, the guy did something in the car that enraged me, and something took over, I snapped, and I coldly just wanted to see him die, I didn't care anymore." ... Possible and even plausible, but improbable.
I could be totally wrong. It's not like I think I know what happened. But the pieces that include intention or voluntariness do not add up.
Yeh get out there, do your job and get brought up on capital murder.
They’d like to honor their commitment but they are too busy filling out applications for positions outside Fulton county.
Brooks actually got Brosnan’s taser and tased him causing Brosnan to fall to the cement and suffer a concussion.
How rich...considering this dolt certainly hasn’t honored hers.
Go wash their feet mayor.
. dont be surprised if this gets tossed out on a motion to dismiss..
not if the judge thinks White Lives Matter is a nazi concept
Mayor- “We demand the right to use our police officers as cannon fodder!”
