I’ve read the article, but can’t find any info about the gun laws in Atlanta. Do they have open carry there?
GA is an open carry state. Concealed carry requires a CCW. And I’m sure the “protestors” are in full compliance with all laws.
Georgia allows any person to openly carry a handgun if the person has a “weapons carry” license. Georgia also allows any person to openly carry a long gun. It’s called appendix carry and it’s the best way to carry without printing. I do it with a government model 1911. I do NOT suggest doing it with a Glock.
Also, with practice, it’s one of the fastest and safest draws from concealment. Almost everyone I know who carries carries like this and no one loses their nuts. It simply doesn’t happen.

In Georgia you must have a Georgia Weapons License (GWL) to openly carry a handgun. Unless you are in your home, vehicle, or place of work.

If appendix carry was unsafe, instructors wouldn’t teach it. Just use something with a safety and it’s good to go.

And furthermore, while we’re on the topic, the only appendix carry self-inflicted ND I’m currently aware of was a guy sitting, stuffing a Glock 19 into a leather holster, and the corner folded, caught the trigger and drove a bullet into his femoral artery, killing him. This is why A: don’t carry a Glock appendix, and B: God gave us Kydex.
