Sometimes it seems life can’t get any worse in this country. Already in terror of a pandemic, Americans have lately been bombarded with images of grotesque state-sponsored violence, from the murder of George Floyd to countless scenes of police clubbing and brutalizing protesters.
Our president, Donald Trump, is a clown who makes a great reality-show villain but is uniquely toolless as the leader of a superpower nation. Watching him try to think through two society-imperiling crises is like waiting for a gerbil to solve Fermat’s theorem. Calls to “dominate” marchers and ad-libbed speculations about Floyd’s “great day” looking down from heaven at Trump’s crisis management and new unemployment numbers (“only” 21 million out of work!) were pure gasoline at a tinderbox moment. The man seems determined to talk us into civil war.
But police violence, and Trump’s daily assaults on the presidential competence standard, are only part of the disaster. On the other side of the political aisle, among self-described liberals, we’re watching an intellectual revolution. It feels liberating to say after years of tiptoeing around the fact, but the American left has lost its mind. It’s become a cowardly mob of upper-class social media addicts, Twitter Robespierres who move from discipline to discipline torching reputations and jobs with breathtaking casualness.
The leaders of this new movement are replacing traditional liberal beliefs about tolerance, free inquiry, and even racial harmony with ideas so toxic and unattractive that they eschew debate, moving straight to shaming, threats, and intimidation. They are counting on the guilt-ridden, self-flagellating nature of traditional American progressives, who will not stand up for themselves, and will walk to the Razor voluntarily

All they have to do is their job. Gather actual facts. Inform the public. Who, What, Where, Why, How. Don’t bury the lede.
It’s not that hard.
But, instead, these fools all want to push the Narrative and persuade the public to accept lies as truth.

I just read the first two paragraphs and they were so full of media created lies I don’t think it is worth reading any more of it.

95% of so called Journalists are self described Democrats, Liberals, Progressives or Socialists.
Of the remaining 5%, four out of five are Liars.
He thinks attacking Trump before he attacks them will save him.

I remember back far enough when this was what the media actually did. (I am that old.) — but you know, I don’t think that many in the media even know what journalism is. Especially investigative journalism. As a group, they are lost.
Only if the public were intelligent enough to know most of the “news” was fake; they don’t appear to be smart enough. I wonder how many millions are on Antifa’s payroll/Soros’ payroll.
I think that is literally true. They believe their job is to "speak truth to power" or "bring down the bad guys". They are the judge, jury and executioners for a Progressive worldview which makes them feel morally superior. Printing the "news" has got nothing to do with any of that stuff. Printing the "news" is boring. Journalists are all about changing the world. They're the only people smart enough to do that job.
This is precisely the reason that I lose my BLEEP when friends and family share scum media articles as “proof” of their positions. They still haven’t gotten the memo that there is no such thing as an “objective” media - there may never have been such a thing.

Taibbi does his obligatory Trump slander before acknowledging what the true state of American journalism in 2020. Who cares - guys like him helped create the dismal situation the press is in, with a reputation in the toilet.
The media (aka MSM) has no credibility left. No hint of impartiality, it is just the propaganda arm of the leftists. There is no integrity left in the MSM. They have become an enemy of the US, the Constitution, our very way of life.
What the blogger doesn’t realize is that this was the inevitable endgame of moral relativism and secularism. Sow the wind, pal.
Taibbi is an “old-fashioned” leftist, if such a thing exists. He still talks about anti-war, US empire abroad, individual rights. He seems to be fairly intellectually honest.
He recognized that Obama was a far more destructive war-monger abroad than Bush was ever guilty of. A simple review of the facts should show this, but few on the Left will actually admit it.
He also recognized that out-of-control intelligence agencies and the deep state attempted a coup against Trump - with mainstream media help.
It seems the scales have fallen from his eyes.
