"I think this is a mothballed fire station."

That was my take, also. It looks to be non-operational, but preserved nicely. Maybe it has some historical significance. Of course it won't stay like that once the "protesters" get access.

It was built with public money, who the hell are they to transfer title even if it's empty/abandoned?

These little tinpot dictators, making decisions to not intervene on destruction occurring to both private and public real estate.

This is why I asked what your fellow citizens in that area are saying. Is anyone outraged or is it one big collective yawn?

I just get sick seeing these young punks there walking around with guns like they're badasses and they're still wet behind the ears essentially.

This is very dangerous; where are the weapons coming from? It's like a 3rd world sh*thole where weapons are smuggled in to the rebels. Where are the freaking Feds? Does Trump have so many enemies embedded in the DOJ that they are going to let cities burn? I DON'T UNDERSTAND.

I don't know the law for sure, but I used to work for the City and I think there are two options: (1) sell it outright at fair market value; or (2) transfer it without cost in exchange for some use that carries with it a (presumably) public benefit.

I think it's called an MOB agreement: mutually offsetting benefits, in which something of value (the fire station, in this case) is exchanged for the use of that facility for some ostensible public benefit, e.g., a community center or health clinic.

This building may be designated as a historic site, so there would be limitations on any changes to the structure of the building. Presumably the exterior of the building would be preserved and the interior could be redone - within limits - to accommodate its new use.

Of course, these MOBs are subject to all sorts of abuse and political patronage, but I think they are legal.

Public benefit...would imply 100% of the citizens wouldn't it? No one is benefiting from this b.s.

Really I am at a complete loss for words. The mindset that this is ok is something I will never connect with....ever.

Wow, what a bunch of idiots. I can’t wait to see it all burn down and then what? I would think that the people of Seattle would be saying enough already. But, they are getting what they voted for.

I have grown to despise the racist, bigoted, anti American, incompetent left not for what they are, but for what they do to destroy society.

They thrive on taking groups and segments of society they do not even know and demonize them or even eliminate (Cancel culture them) for what they claim to do or have done. They are destroying our history. They are dangerous bigoted group thinkers who will turn our cities, and country into beleaguered third world entities that they already control as incompetent tyrants. They want the police and right of self defense eliminated. We need to develop strong organization to oppose these cretins.

Yes. But we’ll pass on Seattle even if it’s free. Don’t want to live in an insane asylum

From what I’ve heard, they’re building their own walls.

The mayor is a lunatic and much of the City Council are communists of assorted stripes (or Hammer & Sickles).

I’m sure the occupiers can become fire-fighters over night.

Pray for those they think they can help.

Nuke the city from orbit just to be sure!

#6. Time for the decent people of Seattle to take on these psychocommies, anarchists, and racists, and “Let it all out” on their asses, medieval style.

Might as well burn down city Hall because it is now “City Hell” headquarters and totally useless. That’s one way to stop the “Coronavirus of the Mind”.

Disclaimer: The above could be a /Super-SARC or perhaps not. I don’t live in Seattle and will never visit their again, even if for work. I say let the people settle it once and for all. After all ‘The sane people of Seattle have nothing to lose but their chains’.

#26. Re the photo of Chamberlain and Hitler, et. al. Looks like a prior meeting of the Seattle Mayor/City Council and the red radical, psychopaths occupiers of Chaz/CHOP, aka “Czechoslovakia 1938”.

There are no decent people left in Seattle. Ditto Portland, Oregon.

There are no decent people left in Seattle.

“Will you sweep away the righteous of Seattle with the wicked? What if there are 50 righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the 50 righteous people?”

The Lord said, “If I find 50 righteous people in the city of Seattle, I will spare the whole place for their sake.”

“What if the number of the righteous is 45? Will you destroy the whole city for lack of 5 people?”

“If I find 45 there,” he said, “I will not destroy it.”

“What if only 40 are found there?”

He said, “For the sake of 40, I will not do it.”

“What if only 30 can be found there?”

He answered, “I will not do it if I find 30 there.”

“What if only 20 can be found there?”

He said, “For the sake of 20, I will not destroy it.”

“What if only 10 can be found there?”

He answered, “Tell you what. Let’s simplify it. Pick a name at random from the local phone list. If that person is righteous, I will not destroy Seattle.”

”OK. Uh-h-h, Durkin, Jenny.”

”Bombs away!”
