Warren Amendment Calls For The Destruction Of Confederate Monuments In Graveyards
Ryan James Girdusky ^ | Jun 12, 2020

The Warren Amendment didn't just call changing the names of military bases. It called for the destruction of Confederate monuments inside military graveyards including Arlington Cemetery.

During the voice vote, only Sens. Hawley and Cotton voiced opposition to the destruction of anything inside graveyards.

Other Republicans on the committee were completely silent.

Senate Republicans are now scrambling, believing Trump will veto the defense bill if it includes the Warren Amendment.

The amendment was passed with a voice vote, so there's no record on how any individual senator voted.

I was told, "this isn't the hill to die on"... I can't wait till they find that hill.

If you want to know what I said on the other end of the phone was, "grow some f****** balls and say no to these college campus white pussies and these wine moms. No one really gives a s***."

A couple of liberals seem to think destroying confederate monuments is extremely popular, it's not.

Morning Consult poll just last week found only 32% of Americans support taking down the monuments. It's probably even less in graveyards

Let’s see... how did they get rid of Trent Lott? One of the first of a wave of Republicans winning seats in Southern states that had been solidly Democratic. His being Mississippi.
All he did was praise Strom Thurmond and state that Thurmond’ stong campaign stance supporting State’s Rights (that is to say— the 10th Amendment to the Constitution) had it been followed, the US would not have had the problems it has had. All of which is 1.) True and 2.) somehow construed to be racist by following the Constitution (having nothing to do with.... ‘racism/slavery.... whatever’.

The Southern Conservatives are a real thing. They support President Trump because he supports the US Constitution and the Separation of Powers, and not being ruled by an Activist Judiciary that thinks it can make Laws. Unlike many so called ‘republicans’ who are definitely not Conservatives.

Crossing over was and is real, and it has to do with Conservatism, and zero to do with what demonrats invented.

Do you remember—and on how ridiculously flimsy BS (as you

It makes little difference whether ‘they’ get one statue or a dozen removed. They will come back again and again for another round. It isn’t just statues; it is books, movies, street names, building names, city names, on and on and on.

Sounds just like what the Muslims do world-wide.

And when it happens, then what?

Then they build a Mosque on that land.

I tried to take a poll in a graveyard, but no one responded.

We all were participants in many historical events so to start erasing depictions because someone feels hurt is the sort of censorship that is right out of the book...

Needs to be repeated

Have we reached the ultimate stage of absurdity where some people are held responsible for things that happened before they were born, while other people are not held responsible for what they themselves are doing today?

Isn't that one of the Democrat Party statutes ?

Do it right: let oblm burn Atlanta to the ground. All of it. Every building, park, public space, roadway, henhouse and outhouse.

I would say then sew salt in the soil but that would be too Biblical.

Ah yes, and the Union lines at Gettysburg will show they were firing at an empty field July 1863 because the other side was invisible and didn’t exist. Those who never wore a uniform can not judge those who did serve whether they did voluntarily or were conscripted. IMO, the CW was more a war of farmers vs. Industrialists, northern $$$$ was the bigger issue than the question of slavery. Slavery was on the wain, it was dying a natural death. The great migration would eventually have over ran it. The new immigrants were the real builders of the nation, and they arrived after the last shot of the Indian Wars. In our Civil war, there were proud people on both sides. Sure the victors had reason to put up monuments, most were to honor the actually fighters. The south did the same. Is it the cause they are celebrating or the loss of soldiers? Who was bad, who was good? Both sides thought they were. I also look at the White Russians vs the Red Russians. Which side was the good one? Which side got to put up the monuments to their lost ones? I saw monuments to Genghis Khan in the Ukraine, he was a conqueror . There are always 2 sides to the story, and history should not be erased regardless of who won or lost or what their cause was. History is a lesson we have to learn from. Taking it out on monuments and statues, we had no direct involvement with, over maters that occurred over 10 generations ago, is nuts. “My country, right or wrong, but still my country.” It may not be perfect, but its still running great for a 245+ yr old engine.

“You do know the confederates are all dems, right?”

They weren’t, but we like our history to be simple around here.

There were no political parties during the brief life of the Confederacy, and its elected officials were split between former Cotton Whigs and Democrats. One former Whig Confederate being John Tyler, who had also been a US President.

Lincoln’s administration featured a few Democrats. Vice President Andrew Johnson. Secretary of War Edwin Stanton. Union Generals Benjamin Butler, John Dix, John Cochrane, John McClernand, John Logan, Dan Sickles, William Rosecrans, George McClellan.

There were no former Republicans in the Confederate government

All the Confederates were either former Democrats or southern Whigs

We need to counter with something equally offensive to their side...

Calling for an Amendment that required 'diversity of thought' on college campuses. Half of all University staff and Professors must reflect traditional American values.. (if they want to continue receiving any Federal money - including Pell grants for students.)

Really the little twits do these drama queen stunts to get a rise out of us... return the favor.

“Let’s start with statues of LBJ.”

Start where it’ll make maximum impact, i.e., MLK statues.

The government schools have been cranking out these types like Red Chinese toy soldiers for years. And it continues.

The misguided ones on this site must have some good instincts or they would not be here. But they have been educated so poorly in history . . . well, you see the mess they write.

The worst thing about Dinesh D'Souza/Jonah Goldberg Republicans isn't just the fact that they're wrong on so many issues, but that they've dumbed "conservatism" down to mean nothing other than loyalty to the Republican Party, regardless of time period, issues, or policies. That idiot on the other thread who basically did equate Andrew Jackson with Nancy Pelosi because they're both Democrats reminds me of the trained sheep in Animal Farm who only know how to bleat "4 legs good, 2 legs baaaad."
