Dr. Amy Acton has resigned as Ohios health director, Gov. Mike DeWine said Thursday, capping a contentious few months as the target of frustrations during the coronavirus pandemic that included gun-carrying critics showing up at her home.
Acton was most recently sued by organizers of music festivals and restaurant owners as the slow reopening unfolded.
I really want to say most of all to Ohioans: Ohioans, you have saved lives. Youve done this, she said at a news briefing.
Acton, who called her time as the state health director an honor of a lifetime, faced House Republicans seeking to restrict her authority last month due as frustrations grew over aggressive stay-at-home orders.
The governor has defended Acton, saying his fellow Republicans should be focused on increasing coronavirus testing, dealing with a $775 million budget deficit and reopening the economy.

Dewine has a lot of hutzpah criticizing the Ohio legislature about reopening the economy, when he and amy shut it down!
this entire exercise is the people and the legislature fighting to open the economy!

She is remaining as a DeWine advisor. If DeWine wasn’t an ugly little pipsqueak I’d wonder what was going on between these two. She sure does seem to have a ring in his nose.
This woman absolutely ruined my spring and summer and those of a large number of my loved ones, all because she used faulty, even fraudulent “science” as the basis for her decisions. She quite literally made it impossible for me to travel to see my youngest grandchildren, now forcing a full year between visits.
She was the highest paid official in Ohio and only resigned to shield herself from lawsuits.
It would be interesting to know what she is being paid as an “advisor”.
