SEATTLE -- Following days of violent confrontations with protesters, police in Seattle have largely withdrawn from a neighborhood that protesters have transformed into a festival-like scene that has President Donald Trump fuming.
Trump taunted Gov. Jay Inslee and Mayor Jenny Durkan about the situation on Twitter and said the city had been taken over by anarchists."
Take back your city NOW. If you dont do it, I will, Trump tweeted.
The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone sprung up after police on Monday removed barricades near the East Precinct and basically abandoned the structure after officers used tear gas, pepper spray and flash bangs over the weekend to disperse demonstrators they said were assaulting them with projectiles.
The president has sparred before with Inslee and Durkan both liberal Democrats. Inslee previously sought his party's presidential nomination.
Inslee tweeted Thursday that state officials will not allow threats of military violence from the White House.
The U.S. military serves to protect Americans, not the fragility of an insecure president, he tweeted.

going without food in rioter zone....
Watch for corporations to sponsor free food taken in to the anti-Americans in Seattle zone.
Starbucks, of course. And places to pay for others’ food to be shipped in (Nike and Disney).
But maybe any virtue signaling hypocrite out to turn a quick buck. That’s a lot of places. A lot.

Your comment about the Proud Boys is very much to the point. If any armed group of "right-wingers" tried to pull off a stunt like this, heavily armed police and FBI agents would immediately surround the area, demand the occupiers leave, and - if they refused - flood the area with tear gas, go in and smash heads, arrest everyone, and charge them with a laundry list of crimes.
The mayor, governor, and media would all applaud, and there would be no concerns about excessive force or denial of civil rights, much less any effort to sympathetically "understand" the occupiers or their motives. It would not be described as "festival-like," but as dangerous "antigovernment" criminality, as "fascism." Celebrities would not be sending the protesters bail money, and corporations would not be contributing to their cause.

Idle treats make him look weak and important. Either do something of don’t say anything. This is as bad as calling Hillary criminal every day for 18 months and then doing nothing.

"On Tuesday, the police in SeattleStans Eastern District had initially battled with the rioters, using tear gas and flashbangs. Eventually, recognizing that anything short of a military-style defense was a waste of police time and put police lives at risk, the police abandoned the Eastern Precinct. They shredded important and confidential documents, boarded up the windows, and walked away, leaving the people, whom they serve to the mobs mercy."

I would suggest that Trump do something. That something would be to recognize them as a separate foreign entity within the U.S. That establishes a cross-country border which means that regardless of what the state or city wants, the Federal government has jurisdiction in establishing a secure border and crossing checkpoints in and out of a foreign territory. They can then control or prohibit anyone from crossing the border in either direction including supplies. Entry and exit over the airspace can also be restricted. All utilities and communications can be cut off pending the establishment of cross-country agreements. Declare them to be a terrorist supporting country and allow no immigration into or out of that “country”. Sit back and watch the fascist idiots both inside and outside of the boundaries go batshit and there is nothing they can do about it.

"the media is not covering this"
I first heard about it on conservative media. Tuesday and Wednesday, I saw no mention of it in the on-line version of the Seattle Times, so I bought a hard copy at the store. Again, no mention, but there were two full pages devoted to St. George Floyd, who - per the front-page headline - was "a father, a son, a friend who wanted 'to touch the world.'"

My thoughts exactly. A few days of running their own pseudo-government, no food, water, outside help of any kind. Just don’t let them out to go get a Starbucks coffee. They will be killing each other in less than a week.

Ali Swenson is a journalist from Seattle, Washington, currently reporting on misinformation for The Associated Press in New York. Her work has also appeared in Phoenix New Times and the Los Angeles Times, among others. Swenson holds a master's degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, where she received a Pulitzer Traveling Fellowship as one of the top five students in her class. As a print reporter, Swenson has dug through 2020 election donor rolls, traced the life story of a deported U.S. military veteran, weaseled her way inside Arizona's multi-million-dollar medical marijuana industry and biked to work in Los Angeles just to prove it was possible. In the summer of 2019, her work investigating federal nonprofit filings and Palm Beach County sheriff's records led to explosive findings on the accused sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Swenson has also worked as a freelance audio producer for a range of podcast projects. Two of these a series on power in Trump's America with the Center for Public Integrity and a series on generational conflict with her alma mater, Loyola Marymount University are due to launch in late 2020.:

A “festival” that is running out of food and guarded by illegal firearms (illegal in WA state anyway). Yeah, that is some festival— and run by a crazy rap artist dope head. What could go wrong.
“Festival site”-— what idiots in the media. It is fast becoming the “occupy” shitehole as intended.

They have kidnapped the locals and held them hostage in their “festival”.
I want to hear the WA governor and Seattle Mayor try to spin it that way as well.
You can’t make up this stuff!
