I heard that discussion in the 1990s. It’s nothing new. Back then, we changed the slave device to dependent device and the master device to the independent device or base device.

Nearly 20 years ago, I was an AV tech, and the most PC of executives, sitting at my desk in the back of an auditorium from where I ran sound and video, took great offense to those labels on my equipment
