It is, indeed. They’ve taken over part of a city and declared themselves independent of the United States.
To say “well, only the local government has the right to deal with it” is BS.
Imagine if, in 1860, they’d said “Well, South Carolina seceded, so we’ll leave it up to the government of South Carolina to deal with it...”
Really can’t be compared to Southern States seceding.
