There is mounting tension deep in the Himalayas between two of the worlds most powerful and populous nations.
Chinese media has aired pictures of civilian planes full of soldiers holding guns headed towards its mountainous border with India where clashes have flared in recent days.
Anger has been building between the two regional powers over their 3500km border, which has never been properly demarcated.
According to senior Indian officials, India had responded and mobilised its troops also.
Our build-up matches the Chinese deployment, if not more, in terms of troops, support elements, force multipliers and aerial support, a senior official told the Hindustan Times.
There have been numerous face-offs and brawls between Chinese and Indian soldiers at the frontier, which has been the source of numerous minor conflicts and diplomatic spats since a bloody war between the countries in 1962.
However, they have become more frequent in recent years.
As recently as May 9, several Indian and Chinese soldiers were injured in a high-altitude cross-border clash involving fists and stone-throwing in Sikkim state.
Indian officials said that within days, Chinese troops encroached over the demarcation line in the Ladakh region, further to the west.
Now there are fears the tensions may boil over into a larger conflict as a media both social and traditional war blows up between the two nations.
China and India are the worlds largest nations in terms of population, but in terms of raw manpower China has a slight edge with a population of 1.384 billion people to Indias 1.296 billion.
Analysis from Global Firepower currently ranks China as the worlds third most powerful nation in terms of military strength, behind the United States and Russia. India sits just below them in fourth place.

India, China border dispute: Is China more powerful than India?
Does a panda bear piss in the woods?
A lot of Chinas military is designed to project power into the South china sea or to invade Taiwan or to fight America on the ocean,
```
First two true, third not so much. China has no real blue water navy yet and cannot project naval power much past the SCS. Blue water fight between the run down US navy and China, China loses big time. Just imagine if the US Navy actually trained its people, instead of going 100% into woke social experimentation; if it actually built fighting ships, instead of extremely expensive inoperable toys for Pentagon admirals to brag about.
Id love to see the Sikhs and Gurkhas kick some Chicom butt.
````
They lost last time.
I wonder how China could kick Indias ass in 1962, but couldnt do the same to a smaller Vietnam in 1979 and all throughout the 1980s...
We didn't beat Vietnam, neither.
One can always hope.
Lots of pessimism/defeatism on these threads — and that’s a general comment, not something I’m saying specific to this India-China mess.
One thing I respect about the Indian Army is that they’ve to a large extent maintained their traditions from the days of the British Raj.
I would never count them out. They may not have done that well against China in 1962 but they rolled over the Pakis a few years later.
Well thanks to Free Traitors China has much of our industrial strength.
So there’s that.
Yes they did roll over the Pakis.
In 1962, probably a combination of being ill-prepared & bad decision making due to socialist leadership - Nehru.
Exactly and we were stronger than China was then.
They may not have done that well against China in 1962 but they rolled over the Pakis a few years later.
The US could roll over Canada ... India rolling over Pak is why they began a huge armament build up and stocked up on nukes
What everybody ignores is that China’s average age is 40-years-old, while India’s average age is 20-years-old.
Demographics is destiny. The ChiComm apes aborted its future. China is an aging country. India is a young country.
China will get its ass kicked in a war with India for the simple reason that India can muster young people to fight, while the ChiComm apes will need to send grandpas onto the battlefield.
LOL, guess you have to use what is available.
RE: We didn’t beat Vietnam, neither.
We were already kicking the asses of the Vietcongs before the Democrat Controlled Congress decided to withdraw funding from our troops. If we had the same Congress in 1974 in 1942,we couldn’t have beaten Imperial Japan or Nazi Germany either.
The Indian Tank total of 600 is grossly understated.
Arjuns are for the desert. They are too heavy for the Himalayas. It will be the T-72 upgraded and the T-90s at higher altitude. And not just 366.
Please read about the 1967 and 1987 armed clashes where an aggressive leadership gave China a headache.
