The Army usually names its aircraft after indian tribes: Cayuse, Iroquois, Comanche, Black Hawk, Apache, Chinook, Huron, Lakota, etc. Tribal Chiefs are always invited to naming ceremonies and are asked for their blessing (or whatever they call it).

The word Fort alone sounds too much like white genocide and aggressive. How about: (name your alternatives) /sarc

Better idea is to shut down bases located in “woke” states.

Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. Stop trying to erase the past and concentrate on the future.

Is he really the last word on this.

Secretary of the Army stated yesterday that he thinks he can do it unilaterally. I'd say the Pentagon will do it just to give a middle finger to POTUS.

Our Military has a history of honoring enemies and enemy leaders who exhibit great prowess in battle.

The current argument that they were enemy combatants and traitors just doesn't play out.

There are monuments to Benedict Arnold
We use Comanche, Apache, Blackhawk, and many more tribal names for Helicopters.
The Tomahawk missile is a fearsome weapon.
The patch worn by the dive bombers at midway has a brave throwing a bomb.
All testaments to a worthy enemy.

A southern veteran, from Alabama, once told me that the Army named forts, posts, and camps in the south after the worst Civil War generals, union or confederate. Ft. Lee in Virginia being a notable exception.

I will try to avoid that FDR memorial. Many trips to DC but have no idea where it is located. Never looked!
I wish that you had not included a picture of the rotter sitting under his cape. The arrogant rotter was a Commie sympathizer and can be blamed for many of the post WWII problems in Europe. His worship of “Uncle Joe,” resulted in many deaths in Eastern Europe and the USSR.
The Japanese camps were paradise compared to what became the countries behind the “Iron Curtain.”

After Trump is gone they will rename them. The bases will get new names after such “celebrated military figures” as Ft. Obama, Ft. Hillary, Ft. Jorgensen, Ft. Donaldson, Ft. Stanton etc

And let's not forget Ft. George Floyd!

Trump's 1st post-coronavirus campaign rally will be in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Then rallies in Florida, Arizona, North Carolina, he tells pool reporters in Cabinet Room.

The FDR statue should have him with his famous cigarette. The PC crowd saw to it that that didn't happen.

Part of the problem at Yalta was that Stalin had troops on the ground in Eastern Europe and the Western powers did not. Also FDR was very eager to get Stalin to commit to fighting Japan, not knowing that the atomic bombs would make Soviet participation unnecessary, or at least less vital. At least he did not agree to let the Soviets have part of Japan to occupy.

Fortunately FDR survived past the November 1944 election or we would have had Henry Wallace at Yalta.

The FDR memorial in DC is one of the worst of all the monuments. Makes me wonder if a descendant of Senator Taft designed it.

Those bases were named by men who lived long after the war. They understood the implications. They were named in the spirit of national unification and respect for the character of the men on the other side. And THAT is why they should stay the same.

Partner, the liberals are coming out of the wood work.

I am so glad we have a POTUS who has some Gonads and understanding of our American History.

“At least he did not agree to let the Soviets have part of Japan to occupy.”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
That is a very minor at least.
Wallace thought that sharing nuclear secrets with the Russians was a good idea, post war.

At Yalta, Russia would get land lost in the war with Japan. Wallace might not have known of the Atomic Bomb, but it would have been in play as he had sympathies for the Russians.

Is he really the last word on this.

He would be if he started firing these insolent inferiors who undermine his entire Presidency. I guess Jarrod and Ivanka (or someone) won't let him.

The Soviets entered the war against Japan 6 days before Japan agreed to surrender. In return they got the chance to help Mao in the civil war in China and got half of Korea to occupy (otherwise no North Korea now)--but I don't know if that was already decided at Yalta (it could be a later decision by Truman).

Wallace eventually wised up but in 1948 he ran as the Progressive Party candidate and the Communists were all supporting him.
