My basketball teammates in college used the N word religiously. Both on each other and on the white boys. We didn’t think anything of it. It was more a term of affection than anything else. It’s from the word for “black” in Spanish and evolved into the crude form we find today. Sticks and stones can break my bones but names can not hurt me. (Never mind what 9mm rounds fired by blacks can do to black lives)
The thought police are scrutinizing language like never before. If you’re a minority, a woman, LGBT, illegal, etc. you best not use hateful language. Heterosexual white Christian men are the only real monsters.
