For white people who have just recently recognized their own complicity in America's racist systems and are looking to "fix" that it's not going to happen overnight.
"It's a little bit like saying 'I want to be in shape tomorrow' ..." says author Robin DiAngelo. "This is going to be a process."
DiAngelo is the author of White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism. The book came out in 2018, and is back on the best-seller lists as streets fill with protesters calling for an end to police violence against black people.
The status quo in the United States is racism, DiAngelo says, and "it is comfortable for me, as a white person, to live in a racist society."
DiAngelo says to sustain the momentum of these protests, it must become uncomfortable for white people to continue to benefit from racist systems.
"We've got to start making it uncomfortable and figuring out what supports we're going to put in place to help us continue to be uncomfortable," she says. "Because the forces of comfort are quite seductive."
This [work] will be lifelong: really thinking deeply about what it means to be white, how your race shapes your life. We live in a society that turns race over to people of color. They have a race. We're just people. And so we see ourselves as outside of race. And that's problematic for many reasons. But there's so much potentially rich insight that we can gain from deeply reflecting on our own racial experiences.
Nice, white people who really aren't doing anything other than being nice people are racist. We are complicit with that system. There is no neutral place.

I hope you’re right. It’s really scary how even Soccer Moms are spouting Maoist drivel like “Silence is Violence”. Western Civilization is under attack from the people behind this and their legions brainwashed zombies which seem to be growing in numbers every day.
Im tired of being blacksplained
Had we known them what we know now, we wouldve picked our own damn cotton.
I’m sorry, but what a crock. An entire article about white people coming to recognize how they’ve specifically contributed to and been complicit in a racist system—and they can’t provide a single example of what the h&*l they’re talking about.
No unless this gets settled in a fair manor whites will take up arms to defend their rights. Most whites are all for fairness but they do not take hypocrisy very well. They are also very well armed an do know how to use the weapons they own. Many are military veterans who know how to fight. So do it right or things will not end well.
Actually, by far the majority of the country are totally pissed off about the riots, the looting, the arson and the “defund the police “ nonsense and the sickening pandering by the Dems.
Just watch Trumps rally in two weekd time. Trump is going to have a lot of fun at Pelosis expense for her laughable kneeling stunt in the African kente cloth.
Its not hard at all to talk about racism. Judging all white people to be basically racist, for example is an example of racism. The only thing hard is watching Leftists stir up racial hate for political advantage while making it worse for those they claim to be helping. I am ashamed to the depths that my fellow human beings can sink--and that is hard on my soul.
ENOUGH!
ENOUGH!
I dont know if they really think theyre convincing the majority of white folks that they are, indeed, intolerant racists when they have never had racist tendencies; but I, for one, am getting real sick of it.
Theres an old adage that I remember from my youth: If you wear the name, might as well play the game.
Nice white people can still be complicit in a racist anti-white biased media.
People should punish those who actually commit a racist act.......period. No one else !
Okay, then all Black’s are ghetto thugs! Hey, this is easy!
We’re all racists now!
What gets settled in a “fair manner”?
Proud white dude. I will never apologize to anyone for who I am.
I am not holding out much hope but it is always possible.
I will agree there is no longer any “neutral”.

I’m sorry but I don’t know what you’re talking about when you say a ‘fair manner”.
