TAIPEITaiwans air force warned off several Chinese fighter jets that briefly entered Taiwans air defense identification zone to its southwest on June 9, the defense ministry stated.
The Su-30 fighters, some of Chinas most advanced jets, were given verbal warnings to leave and Taiwanese air force jets drove away the intruders, the ministry added.
Taiwan has complained that China, which claims the democratic island as its own, has stepped up military activities in recent months, menacing Taiwan even as the world deals with the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus pandemic.
China says such exercises are nothing unusual.
China has never renounced the use of force to bring Taiwan under its control. One of Chinas most senior generals in May said China would attack if there was no other way of stopping Taiwan from becoming independent.
Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen says Taiwan is already an independent country called the Republic of China, its official name. China calls Tsai a separatist.
The United States has stepped up its military activities near the island, too, with semi-regular Navy voyages through the narrow Taiwan Strait.
A U.S. C-40A, a military version of the Boeing 737, had entered Taiwanese air space with permission, though it didnt land at any Taiwanese airports, Taiwans Defense Ministry said in a separate statement on June 9.
The U.S. aircraft departed from Japans Okinawa island, where there is a major U.S. air base, and flew over northern and western Taiwan on its way to Southeast Asia, Taiwanese media reported.

We should sell Taiwan two fully loaded Ohio class subs. That should take care of this problem.
Probing.
You can bet China is contemplating a move against Taiwan with U.S. on the ropes from the effects of the lockdown and now the riots/looting.
Which is why China will act sooner rather than later.

The sharp political divisions and internal discord in this country are not lost on the Chinese either. Opportunity is knocking for them.
Taiwan should buy some nukes from Israel.
SU-30s, super hi-tec...
Compliments of Bill and Hillary and all of the voting liberal garbage we have as fellow citizens
Indeed, the optics we are sending abroad replicate those of the 1930s. Optics, of course, are only that, and they can lead others to make fatal decisions just as the Japanese did.
I’m not sanguine about the readiness of our woke military and its liberal commanders in the Pentagon. Would they resist Trump’s orders to engage if it came down to that?
I think the SU-30 is more comparable to the F-15.

Taiwan has limited access to the arms market because of its limited diplomatic relationshipsbut believes itself to be under constant threat from the Chinese. In August 2019 it was reported that Taiwan had unveiled a newly developed UAV that is strikingly similar to an Israeli UAV, the Harpy. This was not the first time the Taiwanese exhibited something that was almost an exact copy of an Israeli product. This could be a sign of undisclosed cooperation, a secret no one is trying very hard to keep.

.But they’re still free as birds and no one will ever charge them.
What a mess we are in.
War with China in the near future is not unlikely.
They are being squeezed in one corner and invited to attack in the other.
Should we thank Bill Clinton for the technology the Chinese have?
thank you for the informative post
Taiwan, under growing threat from China, is inching closer to a pact with Japan. Taiwan favors Japan more than any other country, while distrusting mainland China. Much of their trade is with Japan, and over 20 percent of Taiwanese visit Japan each year. Sooner or later, the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association will grow into a defensive pact to counter mainland China. Then war will come.
The U.S. should donate a wing of F-15C’s to the Republic of China with their assorted spare parts and AA missiles.
