The city of Jacksonville’s inventory for Confederate memorials lists three monuments and eight markers on city property related to the Civil War.
As of Tuesday morning, there was one less, and Mayor Lenny Curry said the others are coming down, too.
Crews were seen overnight using a crane to remove a Confederate monument in Jacksonville’s Hemming Park, the downtown city plaza framed on two sides by City Hall and the Federal Courthouse. The statue and nameplate were hauled off well before daylight, leaving an empty pedestal.

Mayor Curry is a RINO. At the start of CoVID he threatened to condemn buildings not obeying his (illegal) orders. He had a couple decent weeks and it looked like DeSantis was warming up to him, and now this — his political career needs to end.
If the removed statues were being moved to a museum or safer location to avoid being tagged or destroyed, I would be okay with that. But I don’t think that’s the intent with the recent removals.
There will be no Confederate statues in urban cities/blue counties soon enough. That ship has sailed. Between Roof, Charlottesville and this, it’s just too easy a lay-up for virtue-signalling Democratic politicians to pass up. At least it’s something they can only do once, next “outrage” they get nothing.
The mayor announced this at a BLM type rally today led by an NFL player. His intention is pretty clear.
Yet they have no issue with the statue of Hillarys mentor Robert Sheets Byrd because that “D” after his name means “off limits”. These mofos are the absolute definition of hypocrites

I think these statues should be purchased by HOAs in the area, and put them in prominent locations on private property facing the main road. How does Stonewall Estates sound?

Well no statues to remind us, no history to remind us...so it DIDN’T HAPPEN. So slavery didn’t happen, there were no lynchings, no need for civil rights laws and no need for Black Lives Matter. The rioters can all go home.

Hoping and praying most blue states will turn red in November after the actions of these mayors and governors.....and that we get leaders with guts and an “up yours” to the SJW when they start this erasing history. I resent it.......I’m a child of the South and I’m proud of my heritage but my family did not have slaves and IIRC only about 10% did and that’s bad enough. Our blood ran as red as the northerners.
