As looters were ransacking businesses throughout the city more than a week ago, Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Ald. Raymond Lopez (15th), one of her harshest critics, engaged in an angry and foul-mouthed argument over the citys handling of the widespread violence.
During a conference call with all 50 aldermen on May 31 to discuss the citys response to the looting, Lopez accused the mayor of being unprepared when looting spread from downtown to the neighborhoods that weekend. Looters pillaged shops throughout the city as peaceful protesters were taking to the streets on the last weekend When downtown is in lockdown, our neighborhoods are next, and our failure to fully get ready for whats going on in the neighborhoods, were seeing this destruction, and were thinking that its going to somehow end tonight. We have seen where, in other cities, this has gone on for days; and we need to come up with a better plan for days, at least for the next five days, to try and stabilize our communities, Lopez said.

“Black faces in high places” hasn’t worked out very well, has it???
It depends if it negatively impacts the Combine’s bottom line. If she is a disaster to them, they will rid themselves of her. But anyone they replace her with won’t differ much.
I certainly won’t vote for the bitch. I can’t imagine her winning every precinct again. Anyone who isn’t demonstrably worse will have my support.
I can’t exactly say I wish Pop Tax bitch had beaten her though. What a choice.
Choices I’m used to making, I had to back Rahm over Chuy Garcia also, and indeed the GOP vote might have been Rahm’s margin of victory. I voted Willie Wilson in the first round, each of the last 2 times.
Goddamn Daley is looking pretty good now. Lightfoot’s eventual successor might make her look good too.
