While Chicago was roiled by another day of protests and looting in the wake of George Floyds murder, 18 people were killed Sunday, May 31, making it the single most violent day in Chicago in six decades, according to the University of Chicago Crime Lab. The labs data doesnt go back further than 1961.
From 7 p.m. Friday, May 29, through 11 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 25 people were killed in the city, with another 85 wounded by gunfire, according to data maintained by the Chicago Sun-Times.
In a city with an international reputation for crime where 900 murders per year were common in the early 1990s it was the most violent weekend in Chicagos modern history, stretching police resources that were already thin because of protests and looting.

Should have noted the Chicago City Council has one independent alderman, who changed from Republican about 5 years ago. So they can’t elect many more Democrats, just room for one.

Don’t know. Every photo of a deceased at the link is black. My guess most of the shooters were black as well as the victims. So it’s not really news, outside of Chicago papers.
Obviously the answer is to get rid of the police. Then peace will break out and thugs will lay down their arms and repent

Other than a very small percent of people discharging firearms in a less-than-ideal manner, Chicago was largely peaceful.
Social scientists need to study this.

I really don’t give a dam(). Both the city government, the voters and those living in the murder zones have brought this on themselves. I’m moving along to other articles.
