A Catholic archbishop said the "deep state" is "fiercely waging war against" President Trump amid the coronavirus pandemic and riots following the death of George Floyd.
Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano of Rome urged Trump on Sunday to fight against the so-called "deep state," mainstream media, and the "deep church" in an open letter shared by LifeSiteNews.
"In recent months we have been witnessing the formation of two opposing sides that I would call Biblical: the children of light and the children of darkness," Vigamo writes, adding that the deep state has "decided to show their cards, so to speak, by now revealing their plans."

My pastor included Archbishop Carlo Vigano’s letter in this church bulletin today.
Bashing Trump (AND the Knights of Columbus!) for his visit to the National Shrine of John Paul II makes no sense at all. Melania Trump is a Catholic anyway (first Catholic 1st Lady since Jackie Kennedy) and the shrine gets a ton of non-Catholic visitors regularly who want to take a picture in front of the JPII statue, and welcomes everyone who wants to visit or is there for private prayer and reflection.
Sure, it was a photo-op, but Mayor Buttboy (an Episcopalian) conveniently “stopping by” Jimmy Carter’s BAPTIST church for “Bible Study” on Sunday with his “husband” during the primary felt FAR more staged and phony, and I don’t recall anyone bashing Buttboy for THAT cheesy staged photo-op moment. Give me any other example of an Episcoplian going to a Baptist Church for “Bible study”, makes as much sense as an Orthodox Jew visiting a Reform Jewish synagogue with a female rabbi so he can “learn Hebrew”
Anyway, Good way to rebuke Wilton Gregory’s nonsense without calling him out by name.
I honestly never knew Gregory was from the “Cupich wing” of the Catholic Church until this week. I don’t recall him preaching that kind of garbage when he was an auxrilly bishop of Chicago under Francis George, or when he was Bishop of Bellville in Southern Illinois. Unfortunately since he is the “lone black Catholic bishop” in the USA, his job is probably secure.
He lived here while he was the Vatican's Apostolic Nuncio (Ambassador) to the U.S. That was under Pope Benedict XVI. He also travels quite a bit.
