George W. Bush Not Voting For Trump In 2020: Report (Surprised?)
Daily Caller ^ | 6/7/2020 | Shelby Talcot

Posted on 06/08/2020 5:40:25 AM PDT by yardboyd

Former Republican President George W. Bush is reportedly not supporting President Donald Trump for reelection in 2020, people familiar with his thinking told the New York Times.

Bush is just one of many well-known Republican politicians who do not plan to vote for Trump, the NYT reported. Bush’s brother, former Republican Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, is reportedly on the fence regarding who he will give his vote to, people familiar with his thinking noted, according to the NYT.

It is not immediately clear why Bush won’t vote for Trump in 2020. The president’s response regarding recent police brutality protests and how he has handled the novel coronavirus pandemic are reportedly reasons why some prominent Republicans won’t be backing Trump.

Other Republicans who reportedly won’t be voting for Trump this year include Utah Sen. Mitt Romney, Arizona Sen. John McCain’s widow Cindy McCain, and former Secretary of State Colin Powell, the NYT reported. Powell has been vocal about not backing the current president, saying on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday that he “cannot in any way support President Trump this year.”

It is not known yet if the Republicans opposing Trump plan to vote for the presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden. (RELATED: Bush Office Thanks Trump For Support Amid State Funeral)

Freddy Ford, a spokesman for Bush, said he will not be involving himself in the 2020 election, the NYT reported. Bush only plans to speak on policy issues, such as when he recently noted that America has to “examine our tragic failures” regarding race.

They cant stand Trump. And you know what that tells us who and what they are..

You hit the nail on the head! Trump is the exact opposite of a RINO! All are afraid of him; especially in a second term where he, like Obama, will have a lot more latitude.

I feel the same way about John McCain and Mitt Romney.

I think he has been pussy whipped by his wife, who wants to think she holds the reigns on what the Bushes see of do, and who they cavort with and what status in the Democrat establishment that brings her.

Laura Bush has killed more people than my gun.

Obviously he was a way better president than Gore.

His current comments disappoint me. What does he think he will accomplish? He seriously thinks Biden would be a better choice?

You shouldn’t be ashamed. The alternatives were so much worse.

Sometimes I wonder if there really would have been that much difference?

Oh definitely. We’d be locked down socialists at this point.

Instead we still have a lot of freedom, a lot of prosperity, an increasingly solid judiciary.

fake news NYT bases the entire “article” on this attribution:

“say people familiar with their thinking”

which really could mean pretty much anything or more likely nothing ...

anonymous rumors like this are prototypical fake news ...

No Bushies voted for Trump in 2016, so why should we expect anything different now?

W says that it’s not true:

https://dailycaller.com/2020/06/08/george-w-bush-spokesman-new-york-times-article-donald-trump/?fbclid=IwAR3EUiFXNPqCWsYd2m3fE21hrhWkLcjy9aoNbnVH82fw1ykToez1rb8l2bo

I should probably make a separate post of this as the original article
Is apparently slander. Not your fault for posting. But W is not announcing a lack of support for Trump.

Wouldn’t it be great to see him at the convention endorsing? That would be something else. Very healing.

I refused to support or vote for George Bush during the primary because of his being a member of skull and bones. I almost got kicked off FreeRepublic because of it. I was told by the powers that be to cease posting it. Because of my very strong respect for those “powers”, dropped I did stop posting it. Although I did not vote for him in primary, but did work locally to get him elected after the primary simply because “lesser of two evils”. I am not trying to say, “I told you so” because of the fact that I will always be very embarrassed that I did all sorts of voluntary work in Atlanta
for Bush during the election. I should have held to my principles and just retired till after the election, but I will never, never do that again. George W Bush is a weasel. He and his father are One World Gov. men. And I thank the Lord that most of Free Republic now understands that!

I’m sorry; your post referenced “Nancy” - I couldn’t follow it and she has been dead for ten years.
