.... I’m pretty sure that most of the time when a city police force is disbanded ..... Law Enforcement is deferred to the County for enforcement. A lot of Cities and Townships do this to save money in their budget .......

This would be the green light for a shocking bloodbath on the streets of Minneapolis. No resident would ever be safe from theft, looting and murder without the police.

This is a fundamental ignorance of human sin. People are not basically good. They are fundamentally bad. You don’t have to teach a child to be bad. You have to teach a child how to be good.

Gee how safe do you think MN Twins and MN Vikings fans will feel attending home games at their Minneapolis stadiums with no police? Downtown Minneapolis is already a combat zone even with a police department. Watch downtown businesses clpse or flee to tne suburbs

You can remove the police from a city but how do you force sane people to keep living there?

There will no doubt be a fundamental transformation. The city will devolve into nothing but lawless trash preying on one another.

Minneapolis citizens, choose from:
1) Pay the dhimmi and you will be protected by the Sharia Patrols
2) Special 80% off deal if you convert
3) Lifetime supply of Bricks, free delivery

The School Board is discontinuing their relationship with the Police Department. Big whoop! All they are doing is putting those children in danger and not giving a damned because it is a part of their Marxist/black-hate-cops mentality to do so.

Hiring private security to protect the schools? Ain’t gonna work unless they are deputized to use deadly force and that is not going to fly either.

I heard that one city, perhaps Minneapolis, is hiring three private security companies to patrol/protect downtown businesses but they will not have weapons or possibly even arrest/custodial holding powers. Not going to fly. Will crash just like the Hindenburg and with the same amount of casualties.

Time for all Minneapolis police officers to resign en masse, dump their guns and badges on the Chief’s desk, tell him to go screw himself (over his PC policies), and tell the City Council Marxist, incompetent Mayor Frey and the city, “Adios amigos, you’re on your own. Enjoy the BBQs coming to your businesses and homes, very soon”.

That would fly like a Concorde airplane because the businessmen and women ARE NOT STUPID. Neither is much of the black working community.

Only time will tell but unless these cities get rid of their Democrat Party incompetent masters, black toadies and Marxists, and plantation mentalities for their urban black communities, NOTHING is going to WORK, CHANGE, or STOP THE VIOLENCE coming down the rails like a runaway train.

I personally think that any city that unwisely chooses to disband its own police force in an ideological conniption fit should promptly be put into receivership by the state’s government.

This can be one-shotted real quick.

Anonymously put up flyers announcing the creation of the “Minneapolis Vigilance Committee”, making it clear that the vigilantes are *not* under the “onerous constraints” of the police, have zero obligation to arrest, and will use necessary force to “detain lawbreakers and prevent them from violently harming the citizenry.”

Oddly enough, the objective is *not* to actually create a vigilante organization, nor to catch and beat up or hang criminals; but to threaten the political power and control of the city council over Minneapolis. Without the police, it is *their* shiny buttocks that is undefended from violence, they know it and are terrified of it.

Their worst nightmare is a different organization rising up to boot them out of office.

We don’t need no stinking “e pluribus unum.” Give us instead “ex uno plura.”

Think of how much nicer that will look on our currency and coins.

The monumental historical ignorance of those rioting on the streets is only matched by their monumental moralistic arrogance. And, most sadly, it seems to be matched with that of so many of those now in positions of authority. Sadder still is that many of those in positions of actually actually do know these things, but think they can control the monster now let out for their own purposes. They, and we, are about to be shown how dangerous such unwisdom can be.

God have mercy.

This is the dumbest thing I've heard of in years. A major metropolitan city is going to shut down their police department?

What? They're going to take care of the safety of its citizens and the security of their homes, property and businesses by the honor system? WTF?!

I live in Florida near the infamous small town of Waldo, that was known far and wide for its radar speed traps. That's how they funded the town. Mostly by folks traveling through that weren't up to snuff on what the deal was.

Well, eventually the county investigated and shut the police force down. The county sheriff took over policing duties.

But Waldo is a very small town with nothing but a flea market there. Minneapolis is a huge city. Big difference.

This sounds like a bunch of Leftists thinking their socialist utopia is upon them and they can grab the brass ring and do this policing without guns or a police force.

In their wet dreams....

Minneapolis was not terribly safe in the downtown theater district after midnight in the mid-90s when I visited.

I got the last bus back to St. Paul and the bus driver looked at me and said it was not wise to have been there. He was very uncomfortable and he was used to it, I would have thought.

I was the only one remotely sober at that bus stop. I don’t drink, and he noticed that.

Gonna be great for existing morale...I wonder if the cops will give them a taste of what they’re asking for...act as if their hands are all tied the same as if they were facing “protesters”...
