Former President George W. Bush will not support President Trump in his effort to seek reelection this year.
People familiar with his thinking told the New York Times the 43rd president won't back his fellow Republican, who will likely face former Vice President Joe Biden in the general election.
Freddy Ford, a spokesman for Bush, said the former president plans to speak out only on policy issues.

Dubya was brave in some areas, he always cared for those in uniform and us Vets. My "kids" were in uniform when Dubya was prez, and we parents knew that Dubya had their backs.
I won't forget this.
We parted sympathies with illegal aliens and open borders and a few other things.
But he did fear the media, the NYT and WaPo.
He never really understood that the Dems in Congress had no (NO) intention of ever getting along.
Then came brother Jeb, a true fool, and Dubya of course supported his bro.
Jeb actually had the inside track on the GOP nom until he got honest about open borders objectives and gave whole speeches in spanish.
Trump's victory embarrassed the Bushes, as it should have.
Then, Trump's courage in running our Fine Country and promoting Conservative ideals, with no apologies, and succeeding at doing so, further embarrassed Dubya.
In short, Donald makes Dubya look weak, ineffective, and too eager to please the Dems and their media.
That Dubya does not like standing in Trump's shadow is somewhat understandable, it would take a bigger man to admit that Trump succeeded in so many areas where Dubya could not.

I remember, a long time ago, when somebody started a thread asking what we should rename George W. Bush’s Air Force One, I suggested the name “Son of Weenie”, where “Weenie” was my nickname for George H. W. Bush.*
I took some flack for that one. Now, all I ask, is that my detractors line up before me to eat their hats. I will provide the Old Bay seasoning. Maryland, you know.
*To his credit, H.W. wasn’t a complete weenie. His foreign policy included liberating Panama and the Philippines and dealing with the freeing of first Eastern Europe, and then Mahther Rahssia itself. Desert Storm, too!
