Actually it started on 04 June 1942
The Imperial Japanese Navy never recovered for the loss of their carriers at Midway. There was a lot of fighting left to be done, obviously, but after this we were on the offensive and the IJN was doomed.
If you haven’t seen the 2019 film Midway, get the DVD or stream it now! One of my favorites.
Amazing hunches - Amazing courage - Amazing victory !
We lost the Lady Lex (April) then Yorktown at Midway but they turned the Japanese around in Coral Sea and saved Midway. Plus 4 Jap carriers destroyed and a light support carrier (at Coral Sea). At the time it was hugh. The Navy was finding its sea legs. Tomorrow in 1944 we got going in Europe. June was a hot month in a couple places during WWII.
There is a long Youtube account of the battle done by, I think a German who studies these battles in depth. At the end he summarizes the reasons for the win or loss.
He gives the usual reasons but one which caught my attention was just how daring the Americans were and how the Japanese were not at all expecting it.
Bttt.
5.56mm
Re that movie .. gotta hand it to that leftard who played Nimitz - he did a respectable job with the role.
(drawing a blank on his name ..)
Excellent film!
Well, if you meant 78 years +1 day — you’d be correct.
The Battle of Midway was on 6-4-2020
Their defeat at Midway was so devastating and humiliating, the Japanese public wasn't told the entire story until 1955 -- ten year after the war ended.
Today’s Democrats would be trying to surrender already, getting on a knee to apologize for their racist conduct towards Japan.

Yep quiet excellent. Much better than the all star Heston verson IMO! Very entertaining!
“78 Years ago TODAY...Battle of Midway...always remember.”
Remember what. Since the government took control of the education systems and only hired liberals, these kids today have no clue of American History is about and the sacrifices made by those who sacrificed themselves to keep us free.
Having lived through WWII, I have no doubt that "today's" U.S. citizenry would have folded after Dec 7th and sued for peace by any means necessary...
Now the world is slowly being divided up and absorbed by the moslem devils and the communists (including both the ChiComs and the worldwide communist parties of which the CPUSA and the Democrat party are a major part)
I was pleasantly surprised with Woody Harrelson’s performance in Midway. It is the only decent performance I can credit him with other than being the drunken mentor in the Hunger Games trilogy.
Actually, Allied forces took Rome on June 4th. It was largely overshadowed by D-Day.
