What is this AWANA thing?
It’s afterschool bible study and activities for kids.we have it at our Baptist church.
It is a nondenominational ministry for children. AWANA holds weekly meetings at churches, children are grouped by ages, and spend a couple of hours each week listening to Bible stories, memorizing Bible verses, playing games, and eating snacks. The children earn awards for the Bible verses memorized, and wear brightly colored vests.
My own children took part in AWANA at our Baptist church. I volunteered as a leader for a few years.
It is an acronym for part of 2 Timothy 2:15, “approved workers are not ashamed,” referring to people whose work for God gives them nothing to be ashamed of.
