Former NFL safety Burgess Owens told "Tucker Carlson Tonight" Thursday that those demanding New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees apologize for saying he would never agree with people who disrespect the American flag are "elitists" who are embarrassments to their home country.
"What you're seeing here is exactly why President Trump will be elected once again; as they were surprised last time," Owens told host Tucker Carlson. "Americans don't like bullies. They don't like people who demand that we disrespect our flag and our country. I think what Drew did, he was spot on."
Owens, who won Super Bowl XV as a member of the Oakland Raiders and is running for Congress as a Republican in Utah's 4th District, added that people who know Brees know that he is not a racist, and that people going after him are "cowards and Marxists -- period."

It was nice to see. Uncle Tom designation in 3,...2,...
GOD BLESS Burgess Owens.
A REAL MAN emerges.
Too bad Drew wasn’t man enough to stick up for himself, but decided to be a coward and apologize. Now he’s got all of these black players, even Charles Barkley coming to his defense. And of course to the left, they are now Uncle Tom’s, or not black enough to know what they’re talking about.
Amen to this man.
I wish Drew Brees had told his critics to drop dead and announced his retirement. I think he’s 39, so he’s had an exceptionally full career and his place in Canton is waiting.
However, I have been impressed with Burgess Owens, just as I’m impressed with nearly all our black conservatives. After all, there’s less of a social cost in being conservative and white — although I’ve certainly alienated some people by being a man of the right.
Moot point
Brees caved.
Its a cows opinion

Better late than never? NO.
He already grovelled, as did war veteran Andrew Villanueva, who is somehow forgiven here for having been “forced to.”
brees is the coward. I have less respect for him then I do for the kneelers.
Roger Goodell has played with racial conflict and politics as a brand-building and NFL marketing tool for years now.
F*** him.
*Subject to retraction in the event he kneels
If the chinese flu is actually coming back like Fauci and the Doomsayers say it will, the NFL is history. So is the NBA.
Guess we will have to wait and see.
Me? I already told my employer that I am going to retire the end of July. With the riots and looting, I stayed home this week. And I got real used to wearing jeans all week and getting up when I want to. Next Monday will be a really difficult Monday for me.
“GOD BLESS Burgess Owens.

Ditto. I just donated to his campaign. Burgess Owens for Congress (Utah).

As I do for all such cowards, here's hoping, for Brees, that his knee-pads live long and prosper...
Burgess Owens for Congress...
Haha, too funny. TD record or not, the moment his name comes up for the Hall of Fame, this whole episode will be rehashed and chances are slim that he will be deemed "worthy of such an honor". The chances would have been even worse if he didn't grovel.
Your thought has crossed my mind as well. I still stand by original comment, however. Drew’s achievements speak for themselves.
Also, unlike some on these threads, I refuse to give in to defeatism. By the time Drew is up for the Hall of Fame, I expect a measure of sanity will have returned to our culture.
Right now, the left is running wild — but if you read your history, leftist revolutionaries, like thieves, invariably fall out amongst themselves. The French and Russian revolutions illustrate my point.
By the way, please don’t get sarcastic with me. I try to be polite to one and all on these threads but I am distressed over what I perceive as a declining level of civility.
I know we’re all stressed over the events of this year. But please save sarcasm, epithets, and invective for the RATs. They deserve every bit of it.
