Conservative black icon Candace Owens’s uncompromising video critique of George Floyd creates a firestorm

The release of the official copy of the Hennepin County, Minnesota Medical Examiner’s autopsy of George Floyd on Wednesday inspired conservative black commentator Candace Owens to live stream an18-minute video commentary that has created a firestorm of blowback – with MSM coverage from as far away as New Zealand and Australia. Pro and con discussions of Owens on social media including Twitter reached a peak on Thursday, as the first of several memorial services for Floyd, with Al Sharpton delivering the eulogy, was broadcast live from Minneapolis on all four broadcast television networks, PBS, and the three major cable news channels.

Owens’s criticism of what she termed the “martyr” status accorded to Floyd is the first high profile commentary of its kind to hit the mainstream since the death of the 46-year-old African-American man on May 25 while he has being subdued by Minneapolis police after his arrest for an alleged non-violent crime. Her video is titled “Confession: #GeorgeFloyd is neither a martyr or a hero. But I hope his family gets justice.” In the video itself (most easily accessible on YouTube), apparently shot on a cell phone, Owens made it clear that “What I am saying is not any defense for [Floyd’s accused murderer] Derek Chauvin. The family of George Floyd deserves justice for the way that he died.” She added, however, that “I also am not going to accept the narrative that this is the best the black community has to offer.”

Street reality: When an individual chronically uses mind altering drugs such as fentanyl and methamphetamines their behavior is often irrational and confrontational. Usually they come in contact with other drugged individuals. Often there is violence over things as trivial as cigarettes or a bottle of wine. Every Monday the Medical Examiners morgues are full of such causalities. George Floyd was intoxicated with multiple drugs. He had the bad luck to be confronted by a bad cop as opposed to an impaired peer. The result was the same.

Sorry there is just so much sympathy for people who choose the drug life rather than the more difficult route of sobriety and constructive coping. George Floyd’s life and fate is a morality tale, not a role model. There are some bad cops but there are far more worse people and those that will exploit them.

Common sense tells you that

1) We really don’t know why he died. Racism? Sociopath cop? Payback because the two knew each other?

2) He was under the influence of Fentanyl which doesn’t seem very heroic.

Yes, every death is tragic but there are a lot more worthy or deserving people that die that never get this kind of national acclaim. And acclaim for what? He was not special or remarkable. But what is remarkable is the leftist false narrative that boost him up as a hero. What is shocking is that the racial narrative of the left is not grounded in truth or even the latest statics about black men dying at the hand of white cops. The truth is the exact the opposite of what the left and media are saying. Floyd George is being used to dupe Americans, he is being used shamefully by the left to propel their false narrative that America is RACIST at its core. They are pissing on his grave and using him as an excuse to riot, loot and harm the most defenceless people in the community. They are shameful cowards.

While he may have had traces of meth and fentanyl in his system, the video of him being arrested/killed does not appear to show someone in a state of intoxication from such substances.

Aside from that, he was a multiple offense felon.

His life choices were not good choices. He still deserved his day in court and the officers actions were a direct cause of his death.

We can fix this though... Assuming the Race-baiters and SJW's let us.

I’m a big fan of Live PD and it seems that nearly every episode, a suspect gets tased. Not because the suspect is black, because many of those tased are white, Hispanic or other, rather they get tased because of their actions.

Not to justify the actions of those four police officers, but I can’t help asking what would have happened to Floyd if he had just complied with the LAWFUL requests of the police. If he had just done what he was told and gotten into the back of the police cruiser as he was directed.

He KNEW he had just tried passing counterfeit money and got caught. A federal felony. He KNEW what the procedure was for being taken into custody, since he had an extensive arrest record, but instead he chose to act the way he did.

I think It’s reasonable to assume that had he complied, he would be alive today and probably would have been bailed out of jail, free to walk around. But he didn’t comply and the police went to far to get him to comply. Now he’s dead and in the wake of his death are the horrific riots, looting, property damage, personal injuries and, even worse, deaths of many innocent people.

If only he had complied . . .
