“The economy is irrelevant” according to newfreep.

OK. Right.

Because it’s so far off from the projections. Now I have to believe that economists are into push-projections, like the political pollsters??

This reminds me of my first house loan. I was happy to get a 13% mortgage. 13% unemployment is awful.

The dems will milk the riots and whatever else they can find to keep these unemployment numbers up. I am hoping this latest George Floyd saga will have taken covid-19 off the front page long enough for businesses to get back to normal.

Yes it’s terrible and I pray it’s temporary. The alternative was 19% though and that was frightening.

“I got my stock money back!”

I bought Marathon Petroleum back in March at close to it's low ($22.00) off it's Jan high of ($65.00).

It's trading today at $41+ for a cool $38K profit.

You don't have to be very bright to make money in the market off of other peoples idiocy.

Yes, there is always disruption in the economy.

The horse & carriage industry got displaced by the automobile. The typewriter industry got displaced by the personal computer. And so on. It always sucks to be part of the displaced industry but it's important to learn different skills and adapt.

I think we are seeing disruption in fast-forward these days.

One major disruption I see is that corporate offices will give way to home offices for many. So landlords of office buildings may be in for hard times as corporations downsize their office space as they shift their workforces to "work-at-home" on a permanent basis. However, great opportunities will develop elsewhere to service this remote workforce.

Smart landlords will convert their vacant office space to "hotel-like" space that they can rent to corporations on a daily basis. For instance, Company A rents the space on Monday, Company B rents the space on Tuesday, and so on. So five companies share the space and split the cost five ways. That way their workers spend four days a week working at home but come in on the one day for meetings, training sessions, etc.

No doubt, this all possible due to fast home internet. Now we see a proliferation of software to accommodate this, zoom, Microsoft teams, doc-u-sign, etc. We'll now see HD cameras getting better, better audio systems, etc.
