If I saw this happen in another country, I would immediately recognize a color revolution violent overthrow of the government developing.

If one looks at this from the perspective that, by and large, general officers are every bit as political as any member of Congress, he’ll understand what’s going on. The president has to nominate officers for promotion to flag rank and submit those nominations to the Senate. Obama, in particular, carefully vetted ALL flag officer promotions for their political allegiance. “Mad (Yappy Little) Dog” Mattis, in particular, was another in a long history of Marine generals who talked like Chesty Puller, but acted like Benedict Arnold.

This is a color revolution, collaboration courtesy of CIA and State Department (the Blue Empire), opposition by the Red Empire (DOD and serving overseas officers) doubtful.
The Mattis-Allen-Kelly (don’t forget McRaven) ploy is to settle down any colonels who might be feeling loyal to the Commander in Chief.
They have to make their move soon, and I believe they will.
This tragedy has many authors - but without the failure of the GOP to embrace their new President in January 2017, none of this would be possible. I’m sure the rebellious officers are well-connected to GOP Senators who THINK their lives will be better with Trump gone. And, undoubtedly, they are being allowed to believe that - for now.
I do not believe the upcoming illegal government will be able to impose order, but I don’t believe they will fall to an imaginary patriot army, either.
We are in for some very well-deserved rough times, that may last for decades.
