We are, I believe, in one of the toughest times in our country's history, as we continue to battle a deadly pandemic and the resulting economic havoc while, once again, coming face-to-face with the long-term effects of racial injustice. Watching tens of thousands take to the streets to speak out against fear and inhumanity is, on one hand, inspiring for the commitment it represents and, on the other, heartbreaking for its profound need.
But what's next? What do we do to change the cycle in which black men or women, with tragic frequency, are harmed by those who are supposed to protect them? Or the gut-wrenching truth that to be a person of color in America is often to not feel fully safe, seen or heard?
For me, it starts with seeing the situation for what it is, acknowledging these experiences for what they are and, quite simply, apologizing for not doing enough. As important, it includes committing the company I lead down a path of systemic, permanent change in as many ways as we can find.

At Best Buy, in order to Loot their stores, you need to call ahead to make an appointment. Once you arrive at the store, you must be wearing a mash when you check in from a numbered parking slot. Only then will your order be brought to you.

Doesn’t surprise me at all. When I started half of the other techs seemed threatened my presence, very weird. I didn’t care because for me it was only a part time job for play money. Most were very reluctant to share info. You run into that sometimes in the tech world. A lot of people in it guard what they know because they fear you will use knowledge to replace them.
I rarely used them for anything. Now, not at all. Mrs rktman is over ‘etsy’ now after their letter of contrition yesterday similar to this one. Just babbling rhetoric. So, when will target apologize for not stocking enough product to satisfy all their clearance give aways the other night?

Exactly! Also, I initially felt badly that I called them “pukes”, but most of the interactions I’ve had there were with these kids with punky attitudes, unlike way too many other places where the young staff have had great personalities.
I have received about 4 of these “contrition: emails from various companies/groups starting last evening.
While i appreciate their concerns, I unsubscribed and decided to no longer be apart of their little show.
What happened to this man was wrong, what has transpired since is much worse, and these companies are feeding the creature with this pap.

Anecdotal here, I have a very good friend who lives in Pearland Texas. Was talking to him last night and he and his immediate neighbors are calling in sick from work on the 9th, and keeping an eye on their little piece of Pearland.
Since they are going to have the “funeral” for this guy down there they are getting prepared for some issues.
Maybe its time to move to Couer d Alene, as much as I love Texas, seeing 60k people in downtown proselytizing this guy just shows how screwed up Houston is.
I do not trust those people, and want nothing to do with them since the “anger” is all for show and to create the groundwork to excuse the even worse actions to come.

Yea i just watched poor victimized black guy drive a giant forklift though the front doors of a Best Buy.
I haven’t been in one of those stores in ages..EVERYTHING they sell is last generation and at almost twice the cost.
Big companies are trying to head off the same fate with these dumb statements, gambling that normal people will not hold it against them after the riots end.
