Where is Fishtown?
North Philadelphia. Gerard Avenue runs through it. I used to dig antique bottles in and around Fishtown.
it is north of girard ave south of pennsport which is where Penn landed. just north and east of the center city/old city area.
Fishtown is a part of Philly near the Delaware River. It is mostly white, working class, and safe. It is an island of sanity bordering the Heroin Badlands of Kensington to the west. The fiendish and evil mayor, Jim Kenney would not be welcome there.
I believe Fishtown is also the iconically working class town losing ground in one of Charles Murray’s books.
Hello everyone. Long time reader, first time poster. I am a resident of Fishtown in the Riverward of Philadelphia. Have lived and owned restaurants here for 20 years.Everything that is being printed about the so called vigilantes is total garbage. There was no violence just a lot of yelling. The original fishtowners were out in force with baseball bats to protect our neighborhood and the new millenial soy boy home owners just couldn’t deal. Also the cops did a fantastic amazing job keeping the peace. Last night we had more protesting driving down Girard Avenue screaming at us through a bullhorn that we are racists and the BLM. It was pure unadulterated hate speech. And you know what we did? We laughed at them and then went home. We have a clean, lovely neighborhood of beautiful homes and family businesses and we will not allow any scum, black, white, blue, or pink to destroy it. Do not believe anything being said or written about us, please!! And for the record, once this shit is over I’m getting the hell out of Philly as fast as I can.
You can get the feel for it by looking at the twitter thread here.
It has traditionally been the kind of neighborhood where you could end up with a black eye for just not being one of the locals. Mr. Ehrens' taking of videos in that neighborhood would be foolhardy on a nice afternoon before all of the rioting.
It’s a neighborhood in Philadelphia.
