PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia residents were asking questions after a group of people armed with bats and other objects took to the streets Monday night in Fishtown.
And Mayor Jim Kenney provided his answer during a noon news conference Tuesday: "Going forward, any displays of vigilantism will not be tolerated, period," Kenney said.

Was in Fishtown up the street from where I live and everyone I spoke with is going out gun shopping today. Frankly I can’t believe that don’t already own a few, but that’s just me.
Trust me, we did not vote for Kenney. He is despised here. Also everyone I know in Fishtown is a huge Trump supporter.
It used to be that but now we are being over run with obnoxious millenials buying 600K new crappy homes. They call us “the Leftover” with so much disdain in their voices you can practically see the words dripping from their mouths. They have ruined the neighborhood and everyone of my generation with whom I speak can’t wait to get out. We love our homes which we lovngly built and very much enjoy our neighborhood but it’s become unlivable.
We are losing ground to the hipsters from Brooklyn who bought up real estate cheap. They have ruined this 19th century neighborhood with the shoddiest and ugliest construction imaginable. My house is 100 years old and will be here forever. These new homes leak immediately and will rot in 10 years.
You can get the feel for it by looking at the twitter thread here.
It has traditionally been the kind of neighborhood where you could end up with a black eye for just not being one of the locals. Mr. Ehrens' taking of videos in that neighborhood would be foolhardy on a nice afternoon before all of the rioting.

Excellent post and welcome to FR!

Please ping me with articles of interest.
FReepmail me to be added to the list.
THIS is the Fishtown I remember.
Thanks for the memory, chick and welcome.
It’s a neighborhood in Philadelphia.
Ha ha. I know a RE guy who moved from Brooklyn to Philly because of the opportunity to buy cheap, renovate or build, and sell profitably in Philly when NYC was already bought up and overpriced.
Wouldn’t surprise me if he’s been part of some quick-buck construction.
Very interesting good luck!
Thank you so much for the warm welcome. I have been reading this site for probably 15 years and felt the need to start posting. The mainstream press is gaining traction in slandering my community and I will not stand idly by.
Thank you for welcoming me. I am so tired of being maligned, being labelled a racist that I had to join and post. We had bands of cars with 4 AA kids in each of them driving through our quiet streets attempting to intimidate us. I had one kid scream “racist!” out his window at me. This is being ginned up on social media and the main stream. All we do is work our asses off to support these low lifes and now they think they are going to get our support by screaming at us and disparaging us?!!! Believe me, we are all looking for a way out. It isn’t worth it anymore. Let them look for tax money elsewhere.
oh man I am telling you the truth when I say that these new homes are criminal!! The only people who will end of profitting will be the lawyers suing the builders. My next door neighbors bought their house 9 years ago from plans for nearly 600K and just spent nearly 200K rebuilding it since it fell apart. So sad and is rampant throughout the neighborhood. The new folks moving in treat us like garbage.
Theyre pigeon hunters.
Great posting thank u
Probably some Chinese sheetrock in there too!
I lived in Huntingdon Valley, Southampton, Warminster, Warrington, and now Chalfont - For those unfamiliar with SE PA that series of moves takes me further and further away from Philadelphia. UNFORTUNATELY, the cancer that is rotting the city is being spread to Bucks County by Democrats fleeing the ruin they have inflicted on the city by ALWAYS voting Democrat. They can’t get away from the failing schools and outrageous level of taxes fast enough BUT they continue to vote Democrat!
