I think that we are better off politically if we let the blue state mayors and governors do nothing and allow the cities to be ransacked than if we have federal military involvement.
Federal military involvement is a black hole we won’t be able to climb out of. It will also cause an election disaster for our side.

Nobody is opposing “protesters.” They can say and do what they want. If there’s a curfew, it’s to prevent them from getting caught up in stuff for which they are not responsible, and therefore they should just quietly go home and come back by daylight.
It’s the violence afterwards - looting, brawling, assaults on police and even drivers - that needs to be suppressed.

At the beginning of the Russian Revolution (1917), the tsar ordered the garrison troops to clear the streets of Moscow. The revolutionaries responded by putting young women out in front. The troops did not fire.
However, the Moscow garrison was made up of second-rate units. The 82nd Airborne is a different story.
