The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday asked the Supreme Court to overturn a lower court decision granting House Democrats access to redacted grand jury materials from former special counsel Robert Muellers Russia probe.
The Monday filing serves as the Trump administrations formal appeal of a March order to hand over secret transcripts and exhibits that Democratic leaders of the House Judiciary Committee initially sought as part of the impeachment inquiry into President Trump.
The justices previously granted the administrations request to halt the disclosure order, issued by a divided three-judge panel of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, from taking effect to allow time for an appeal.
In its filing, DOJ lawyers urged the justices to take up the case and to prevent an unwarranted breach of grand jury secrecy.
"In light of the national prominence of this grand-jury investigation, the separation-of-powers concerns raised by the decision below, and the potential damage that decision could inflict on 'the proper functioning of our grand jury system,' " they wrote, "this Courts review is warranted."

1 Jun: Judicial Watch: Judicial Watch: Appellate Court Hearing on Clinton Email Testimony Tuesday Hillary Clinton Seeks to Block Court Order Requiring Her to Testify
Washington, DC) Judicial Watch today announced that a hearing will be held on Tuesday, June 2, by teleconference, in U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit regarding former Secretary of State Hillary Clintons efforts to avoid testifying, under oath, about her emails. Clintons former Chief of Staff, Cheryl Mills, also seeks to avoid giving testimony.
The appellate court is considering Clinton and Mills extraordinary request, known as a petition for writ of mandamus, to overturn an order issued by U.S. District Court Judge Royce C. Lamberth requiring them to testify.
Clinton argues she shouldnt have to testify because she is a former, high level government official and that the case is moot because the FBI already tried to recover her emails from various sources when it investigated allegations that classified information was improperly stored or transmitted on the personal e-mail server she used at State...

.... Democrats (aka Suspects) want to know who is named in the redactions so they can take evasive legal action.
They must not be allowed to obtain grand jury material. They would leak everything faster than the Niagra falls.
Do like the Rats would do and mysteriously the files and documents go “missing” just to be sure.
I was wondering about this. So this is Grand Jury material which is SUPPOSED to remain sealed, but they want to go on a fishing expedition, apparently. Do I have that correct?
“...Clinton argues she shouldnt have to testify because she is a former, high level government official...”
Clinton argues she shouldn’t have to testify because she is a known and proven criminal...
(there, fixed it)
“Do I have that correct?”

You hit the nail on the head, the first time.
As I told my beloved husband, though, laws are only laws as long as they are followed and respected.
I wouldn’t trust Roberts as far as I can throw me. It’ll be a 5-4 decision, against Pres Trump if the lefties on the court have their way.
The dems still have plenty of blackmail materials on Roberts.....
You’re correct and it’s totally unheard of. This Congress under Nancy and Schiff have lost their minds.
Just “classify” it, like they do everything else. Classification tied up the release of the Flynn-Kislyak transcript for years. And, now that it’s released, turns out there wasn’t a word worthy of national-security classification.
So classify the records, and tell the Dems and the courts to Eff Off.
Justice is no longer blind. She is a Democrat.
