David Hogg, a Parkland shooting survivor-turned-gun control activist, compared law enforcement and officials in President Trump's administration to fascists, saying his grandfather fought with antifa against similar forces during World War II.
Hogg, who has been highly critical of the Trump administration, suggested the president called his grandfather and other veterans "terrorists" when Trump said the United States would designate antifa a terrorist organization.
"My grandpa was part of the Antifa forces in WWII sad Donald Trump has labeled him and his fellow vets as terrorists," Hogg tweeted.
Trump has blamed the left-wing antifa movement for violent demonstrations across the country in several cities, including looting, arson, and major clashes between protesters and law enforcement. The president said Sunday that the U.S. would designate antifa a domestic terrorist organization.
The protests began last week after George Floyd, a black man, died after a white Minneapolis police officer pressed a knee into Floyd's neck for nearly nine minutes during an arrest.
Hogg and other left-wing figures have shrugged off the blame that has been placed on antifa for the wave of violence, fixating on how the name, which is short for anti-fascist, is representative of those who have fought against fascist regimes, including Nazi Germany. Critics on the Right have for years said antifa activists pose a threat. Republican Sens. Bill Cassidy and Ted Cruz called them "hateful, intolerant radicals" as they filed a resolution last summer to categorize antifa as a domestic terrorist organization.
Attorney General William Barr said on Saturday that "many places" across the country were seeing violent protests spurred by "anarchic" and "far-left extremist groups." He added that agitators were using "antifalike tactics and that many of them were traveling from out of state to participate in the protests.
Barr added on Sunday that the violence being instigated and carried out by "antifa and other similar groups" in connection to nationwide rioting is domestic terrorism and will be treated accordingly.
Why does anyone give this dip$#!+ any air time?
LOL! A movie doesn’t have to be great if it can generate a few great lines.
exactly, and you know damn well his grandfather wasn’t in WW2. This guy is what 19? His parents maybe 50? So noway he has grandfather old enough for fighting in WW2
Hogg is a moron. Period.
I know he thinks he is so clever, but patriotic Americans who fought genuine fascists in WW II are not the same thing as the anarchists who call themselves anti fascist and spend their time disrupting American life, breaking the law and carrying out domestic terrorism against Americans. Sure, Camera Hogg, that’s just like fighting the Nazis.
Good God so much stupid..so his grandpa was involved in looting stores and burning them to the ground, good to know
Hogghead doesn’t know history.
Soooo...his grandfather was a communist? That would not be surprising.
David, it’s good to be proud of Grandpa. But you won’t be a man if you live in his shadow.
He’s a liar anyway. How does a 19/20 year old have a grandfather in his late 80s early 90s and that is IF he fought in the last year of the WW2.
The left are nothing but constant liars and frauds.
Someone needs attention....
The Antifa forces in WWII were called Nazi.
The predecessor of today’s Antifa were called the Weathermen of the 60’s and 70’s time!
Then he was a Communist.
That actually might be something to brag about at Harvard.
Loser / irrelevant. Next idiot up!
Why are they vandalizing the WWII Memorial?
If they’re just like WWII vets?
Antifa are the fascists. The memorial is a monument to their defeat in WWII.
He could mean his great grandfather. But he’s probably making things up.
Not that it really matters if he did have a grandfather or whatever that fought in WWII. Our soldiers didn’t go around burning down buildings that had no enemy soldiers in them and beating up defenseless civilians.
The communist party USA was initially allied with Hitler, following the Ribbentrop-Motolov treaty. They were pushing pacifism. Only when Hitler turned on Stalin did the American commies become “anti-fascist.” Plus, communists like Stain and Trotsky admired Hitler’s will to power. The communist-fascist relationship was of rivalry of ruthless ideology that rejected bourgeois or liberal democracy.
