The morning after peaceful protests in Washington, D.C., turned violent, images show several historic landmarks have been defaced or fallen victim to vandalism.
"Y'all not tired yet," was spray-painted outside the Lincoln Memorial, while "Do black vets count?" was seen written on the World War II Memorial.
In the wake of last night's demonstrations, there are numerous instances of vandalism to sites around the National Mall," the National Parks Service said in a tweet Sunday. "For generations the Mall has been our nations premier civic gathering space for non-violent demonstrations, and we ask individuals to carry on that tradition."
Washington, D.C., reported massive looting and destruction of property in Georgetown and City Center overnight Saturday. Businesses in the district have been urged by government officials to stay shut down overnight Sunday as more demonstrations are expected.

I remember when Trump said they would eventually come after Washington and Jefferson monuments, but I never dreamed they would come after Lincoln...
I heard Birmingham AL had some Confederate statues toppled.
I have been of the belief that until the South could reach an agreement about how to deal with Confederacy-related statues on public property (either choosing to remove of move into museum) or even Confederacy symbols on state flags that the ghosts of the past would remain and tensions would never heal.
Lincoln wanted so badly to oversee a well laid-out reconciliation process between North and South..but alas, he was assassinated before he could implement his vision. Southern Reconstruction ended up being somewhat of a disaster. And the country has yet to recover.
Anyone spotted vandalizing war memorials should be shot on the spot. Just take him out. No quarter
F’ing morons. The WW2 Memorial honors all veterans of the war. F’ing idiots!
I wonder if they did anything to the huge new MLK monument
I could not disagree with you more strongly. These symbols stood for 150 years, and are part of an important and instructive chapter in American history. Those whom would ignore or deny history are doomed to repeat it.
Deo Vindice!
“The issue is never the issue. The issue is only The Revolution.”
FY MSM. That is such a BS line.
I'm sorry but that is an incredibly naïve statement.
ok to spray “Rapist” on the MLK memorial?
and as part of that he wanted to deport every black back to Africa.
“Lincoln wanted so badly to oversee a well laid-out reconciliation process between North and South..but alas, he was assassinated before he could implement his vision. Southern Reconstruction ended up being somewhat of a disaster. And the country has yet to recover.”
Apparently we don’t protect historic buildings or national landmarks. Shameful.
It seems all the media wants to talk about is blacks in the war. Terrorism works, which is why blacks keep acting like this. They riot, over and over, and they scare people into catering to the criminal community.
MLK wasn't black enough (would not support looting). They'll tear down his monument too. The French revolution is probably a good analogy.
I would say they went after Lincoln because he was a Republican; but from what Ive seen on TV they have no idea.
Failure to make peace with the Confederacy may hold whites back moreso than Black people. Mississippi is the poorest state if Im not mistaken.
huh?
