CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. — A positive COVID-19 case has been confirmed in a Boone County resident who attended a crowded pool party in the Lake of the Ozarks last weekend.
Photos of the pool party at Backwater Jacks went viral, drawing intense backlash from the public, health officials and government leaders.
Friday afternoon, the Camden County Health Department was notified that a Boone County resident who attended the party tested positive for COVID-19.

Chlorinated pool water + sunshine/UV - it really is highly unlikely the virus spread from the pool party. Now - the other “extra-curricular” activity outside the pool... that could be another story.

This is terrible!! So what was the death rate again? Zero? Tested positive but asymptomatic? Let’s call back the Calvary and raise the flags back to full staff then. The more you test, the more cases you find. That’s how testing and math works.

Pool party? Seriously. I’m 68 years old. The last pool party I went to, was me and a few guys playing 9 ball and downing several pitchers of beer. The Ozarks are sweet but it’s fishing for me now. My Folks had a cabin on the Osage Arm above Bagnell Dam. I couldn’t go there any more cause I don’t look good naked anymore. Actually, I didn’t look good on skies 35 years ago naked but I had fun. Missouri will survive.

But chief health officer Jeannette Young has conceded the post-mortem test conducted on Blackwater man Nathan Turner was contaminated and “wasn’t an effective test”.
“It was done post-mortem, so after the gentleman had died,” Young said on Thursday.
“And it was contaminated with quite a bit of blood.
“So therefore, it wasn’t an effective test.”
She said further investigation is needed to establish if the cause of death was COVID-19.
But asked if the test could have been a “false positive”, Young said “I don’t believe so”...
“There was a test done ... which is a very sensitive test and it came back positive,” Young said.
“I believe it was a positive.”
