Delaware was treated as a colony separate from Pennsylvania already by the First Continental Congress (1774) and the Second Continental Congress (which began meeting May 10, 1775) so the 1776 date doesn’t mean much. Delaware’s ratification of the Constitution also wouldn’t have meant anything if it had not been followed by the ratifications by the other states.

Biden’s ‘purpose’ was to run Bernie out of the race. Now that he’s done that, it’s a just a matter of time before the Democrats dispense with him and run a candidate who doesn’t belong in Assisted Living (yet).

Biden’s purpose is to be a placeholder until the Dems Convention. Where he will step aside for personal reasons, and the party bosses and hacks will select the Dems VP and Presidential candidates. Bernie will not be selected.

Spot on, VR. There is no such thing as a Delaware independence day from Pennsylvania.

The area was a Swedish colony, then Dutch, then British. IIRC, Pennsylvania coveted all or parts of Delaware, but never got it.

Something else that Plugs got wrong. I truly believe he is becoming senile. Not that there's anything wrong with getting old - we all do, or hope we do.

According to The World Almanac, Delaware became part of Pennsylvania in 1682 (Charles II's grant to William Penn creating Pennsylvania was in 1681), but was granted its own assembly in 1704. I think they had the same governor as Pennsylvania during the colonial period.

There was a short-lived Dutch settlement in southern Delaware--otherwise the area would have been included in the grant which created the colony of Maryland.

I read somewhere that Maryland claimed Delaware but Calvert backed off when the King granted the area to one of his favorites.

I read something a long time ago about the grant to Calvert being worded as to include only lands not settled previously by Europeans—don’t recall the exact wording but maybe from the Potomac River north to the 40th parallel (of course Maryland and Pennsylvania eventually agreed on the present line some miles to the south), and even though the Dutch settlement was no longer there it meant that the land along the Delaware River was excluded. Some of the older texts refer to Delaware as “the Three Lower Counties on Delaware.”

Very difficult to indict a presidential nominee.

Thats what I think he’s doing there.

Its the only thing that makes sense to me.

Barr already confirmed that its working.

Biden is the weakest link that would implicate Obama, Hillary, and on down the line.
