If the 360,000 Chinese students were distributed equally among the 50 states, then each state would have 7200 students. Now, we all know that averages mean nothing in this matter, but it helps to give it some perspective. Does anyone among us really believe that China is sending this many students to the U. S. for a better education.
I am familiar with an American lad who did a year in jail for drug peddling, had a child with a woman he never married, had a very menial job after his jail time, yet married a Chinese student that graduated from our local university with a degree in electrical engineering. She was here on a student visa, married him and got a green card. Shortly after graduation and the wedding, they moved to Colorado Springs. Now what is located at Colorado Springs that might interest the PLA of China? If you answered the U. S. Air Force Academy, then you got the right answer.
We Americans can be such fools.
IMHO, we need to get every one of the Chinese students out of America. We can’t trust anything that China sends our way.

Just imagine if American students were given grad school positions in math and physics again!
Colleges were fine befire depending on Communisr Chinese money. Perhaps large administrative staffs and feel-good studies programs need to be cut. Why does the UC system need 40% Communist Chinese students, at least at UCSD?
I thought the “most favored nation” status applied before China’s acceptance to the WTO. Now, we have less leverage because of their WTO status. If we yank it, they can appeal to the WTO and get a ruling against us. The one exception is if we declare it is for national security reasons.
