The photo is a PR stunt.

The hats are ridiculous, impractical, cumbersome, and relatively costly. Imagine people moving around in the restaurant or trying to get out the door. Do they give you the hat BEFORE you enter the restaurant?

Planting a photo online is cheap advertising.

About 15 years ago, I was traveling through the (IIRC) Portland Airport, and I was hungry for some lunch.

While in line for the Burger King, I watched the fry cook clean his ear with his little finger, examine the result, and then return to his spatula work.

I left without ordering, and I've never considered eating at a Burger King again.
