The Trump administration is willing to pay for U.S. companies to uproot their supply chains and bring them home from China, according to the president's top economic adviser.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused supply chain disruptions and elevated concerns the U.S. has become too reliant on production in Asia, and specifically China, for goods and key technologies.

China is the world's largest producer of personal protective equipment, including masks, test kits and more that is needed to control the spread of COVID-19, which was first identified in Wuhan, China, and has infected more than 5.5 million people worldwide.

While I am fully in favor of bring manufacturing back, I’m curious about the amount of inflation it will bring to the products.

Agreed. And I'm hoping that they'll be smarter than to relocate to unionista territory if they do. Those fat benefit packages and pensions price "US products" out of reach.

Good. Next we have to make it a crime for all levels of government to tax inventory.

A local company here makes a homegrown product but must buy all the packaging from China. Caps and bottles, spray pumps, bladders for volume sale containers and other stuff.

Without China they are screwed.

That’s the kind of things that used to be made here, that politicians of decades past sent to Chi-na.

Time for all of the supplies/packaging, etc., to come back home.

I realize this will put me on the wrong side of just about everyone but...

Imo, the companies doing business in China should be cut off and abandoned to the Chicomm’s tender mercies.

These scumbags have been purposely and maliciously selling us out for decades now. Burn them.

There’s nothing done by a multinational or treasonous Americans that can’t be done as well or even better by non-scumbag Americans.

Japan and South Korea are already doing it. Samsung announced plans to end all manufacturing in China, some to bring home and some to relocate to less problematic countries.

Just as you have arranged your life in response to government intervention, so have the companies.

I don’t think we should hang you out to dry over your behavior over the past months.

Why not? Bent knee is bent knee. But we’re talking about corporate treachery.

Nobody went into business in China not knowing what they were doing. The mandatory tech transfers to China, the profiteering off of actual slave labor from the massive prison networks, stripping the US of industrial capacity, cutting Americans out of nearly entire fields of employment, etc, so on, so forth and more.

This wasn’t accidental. This wasn’t on accident. This wasn’t because they didn’t know.

This was stripping us of what was ours and giving it to the enemy.

And purposely making us dependent upon that foreign enemy.

What bothers me the most is the bulk of these companies originated in the USA. They made their fortunes off of US. Whether thru greed, avarice, power, or whatever, they shifted practically all manufacturing offshore and left US vulnerable to the whims of foreign entities.
Excessive regulations are often cited as the reason for offshoring but I suspect many hands were “greased”. This travesty goes higher up the food chain.
My point is these scumbags made their fortunes from US then promptly abandoned US for “greener pastures”. You lie with dogs.....

All those things are true, you don’t think George W Bush and Barack had a lot to do with push companies over seas and to China?

Of course they did.

Clinton too.

This didn’t just happen. This isn’t a brand new thing.

And it wasn’t on accident.

It wasn’t about “unforeseen circumstances”.

It has been obvious for a long time what was happening and even occasionally commented upon, but that was all crazy talk. Conspiracy theory nuts.

The msm told us so, so it must have been true.
