The author is clueless about EMP. It doesn’t matter how electricity is generated that suffers from EMP, it’s the distribution by the grid. Generating systems are worthless without substations and transformers.
She is also clueless about war planning and our integrated system of conducting strategic war.
Many small reactors would be more resilient than fewer larger reactors. Knock down a large plant, or a single major transmission corridor, and you take out a whole region. Many small ones are much safer.
We should call the members of the New Space force “Space Cowboys”.

Fewer than 10 percent of the American population would survive an EMP attack. In other words, whereas COVID-19 has a 98 percent survival rate, an EMP attack has a 90 percent mortality rate.

Where did that some from? It would take decades to achieve that rate if no one did anything. It would take a while to replace transformers and turbines and meanwhile the effected areas would be without central power. Portable generators could be made relatively quickly (as long as they are not made in China). Lots of people would die from all sorts of reasons until cental power was restored but over years, and not 90%.
Military hardware is hardened and would not be effected, including nuclear powered ships which could supply power ashore. China of course would suffer the brunt of air burst nukes.
Maybe Katie Kiefer’s 10% figure comes from, not EMP, but neutron bombs which China has and if used would make more sense to obtain the 10% number. EMP, neutron bursts are easily confused evidently, else makes for interesting copy for writers in a hurry.
In 2016, this forum was full of posters attacking Trump for his “stop China” agenda and tariffs. And he was accused of being NOT a conservative.
Thankfully those posters are now too busy eating crow and not posting as much.
