VIRGINIA — The Virginia Department of Health reported 37,727 total confirmed cases of COVID-19 Monday. According to The Virginian-Pilot, the nearly 1,500 cases added over the last 24 hours constitute the biggest one-day jump in at least a week. Virginia also reported 1,208 deaths and 4,269 hospitalizations.
The top five health districts for number of cases are Fairfax, with 9,587; Prince William, with 5,812, Loudoun, with 2,047; Arlington, with 1,897; and Alexandria, with 1754.
Fairfax also has the highest number of deaths, with 339. The Henrico health district is a distant second with 118, followed by Prince William with 108, Arlington with 101 and Loudoun with 52.
While all health districts have reported at least one case of COVID-19 by now, only the Cumberland Plateau district has yet to report any deaths. However, the state has confirmed its second case in a child thus far of a Kawasaki disease-like inflammatory syndrome related to COVID-19, according to WRIC-TV.
WAVY-TV reports that the Virginia Department of Health is now breaking down its statistics to separate northern Virginia, where the coronavirus has hit hardest, with the rest of the state. Northern Virginia has delayed the first phase of reopening until at least the end of the month.

Mondays are typically high, getting the cases that happened over the weekend that weren’t logged into the system. (The weekend numbers have been low throughout).
As for numbers of cases, it means nothing unless they say how many tests were run, and then they should be reported as a percentage. As the days go by, the testing is running better with more kids, testing locations, etc.
We have a relative in Northern Virginia who has lost touch with reality during this lockdown. Blames Trump for everything that has ever gone wrong in the world, hates every state that ever voted for Trump. The social media posts are completely hateful and insane. I have told them to get help but have been ignored it seems. I will never feel comfortable around this person again although I have known them since birth.
So the Virginia Dept. of Health is FINALLY going to give us northern Virginians a look at where the virus is doing the most harm. How white of them. It’s only been three months since this epidemic really started here and like Sgt. Schulz of “Hogan’s Heroes”, the VDH says “I know nothing”.
I’d like to know where virus clusters exist in northern Virginia so that can avoid those areas if necessary (are they mainly hospitals?) I’m due for radiation treatment for post-pancreatic cancer surgery and it would be nice if my hospital is safe to go to (In my case, the physical separation of buildings by function increases the safety distances between where I would be and where the main hospital building it).
Now, since nearly everything in northern Virginia is closed to the public or open on a extremely limited use basis, I want to know the “specifics” of where are greatest threats and losses have been.
However, northern Virginia, being run and ruined by Democrat liberals and newly elected Marxist city/county council reps and State Assembly wackos, the chances of us getting an honest appraisal of the situation is problematically.
After all, our great Baby-Killing Advocate of a Governor, Ralph “Dr. Mengele” Northam violates his own orders whenever he wants to, including NOT wearing a mask while meeting the public and spending a lot of time at one of his homes in Manteo, NC (a summer home of some type since he does have, as required by law, an official home residence in Virginia. But, why stay with the sick peasants and workers when he can lounge away in guarded safety in Manteo. After all, he is a Democrat Party elitist like former Va. Gov. Terry The Thug McAuliffe and the rules don’t apply to them.
The man is a hypocrite, a fool, an incompetent, an abortionist advocate of killing babies at or immediately after birth, and a Democrat. He’s a walking epidemic of leftist Marxist lunacy and he intends to hurt Virginia as much as possible and then keep the remnants in the hands of the new emerging Marxist/progressive/Green alliance that has come out of the woodwork like red termites, thanks, in part, to George Soros money, and reportedly that of Tom Steyer and Michael Bloomburg.
A once very liveable and rational state has begun its long descent into the Democrat/Marxist insanity that is destroying California, Illinois, and parts of Washington State, Oregon, New York, New Jersey (insanity is a prerequisite for any Democrat running for a major office there), and parts of Texas (Houston, Austin, some of Dallas).
I think a lot of states have the thing where the numbers coming off the weekend don’t look right.
Looking at the numbers nationally, I would expect deaths to be way, way down by the end of June. On May 6th, the daily number was 2700, yesterday it was 504 and the trend is consistently downward. New cases went from a daily high of 36,000 on April 24th to yesterday’s 18,586 - also on a downward trend.
Barring a real surge (not just one day jump or two) of second wave new cases, this things should mostly peter out before summer’s end - excluding the stray cases and nursing-home type flareups that will pop up. At least that’s my hopeful optimistic take right at this moment. Knocking on wood, keeping fingers crossed and sending a prayer up in the meantime.

Just generating scare numbers to keep the Northern Virginia area, adjacent to Washington and the media centers, shutdown for maximum destructive impact on the economy.
