~The FReeper Canteen Presents~

Road Trip: Naval Air Station Lemoore, California

CANASlemoore2

Naval Air Station Lemoore or NAS Lemoore is a United States Navy base, located in Kings County and Fresno County, California. Lemoore Station, California, a census-designated place, is located inside the base's borders.

NAS Lemoore is the Navy's newest and largest Master Jet Base. NAS Lemoore also hosts five Carrier Air Wings: Carrier Air Wing Two (CVW-2), Carrier Air Wing 5 (CVW-5), Carrier Air Wing Nine (CVW-9), Carrier Air Wing Eleven (CVW-11), Carrier Air Wing Seventeen (CVW-17).

CANASlemoore6

NAS Lemoore was estalished in 1961 to support the U.S. Navy's Pacific Fleet. Today, as the West Coast Master Jet Base for the U.S. Navy, NAS Lemoore provides the infrastructure, support and services that enable Commander, Strike Fighter Wing Pacifc squadrons to coduct operations in support of national tasking.

CANASlemoore5

With the transfer of NAS Miramar to the United States Marine Corps, NAS Lemoore now hosts the Navy's entire west coast fighter/attack capability. NAS Lemoore was built "from the ground up" as a Master Jet Base, and has several operational advantages, and relatively few constraints, as a result.

CANASlemoore4

Strike Fighter Wing Pacific with its supporting facilities is home ported here. The primary aircraft based at NAS Lemoore is the F/A-18 Hornet Strike Fighter. In November, 1999, NAS Lemoore received its first F/A-18 E/F Super Hornets, which replaced the F-14 Tomcat in fleet service as an air-superiority fighter and has assumed, in a different configuration, the role of older F/A-18 Strike Fighters.

Currently, there are a total of 175 Hornets and Super Hornets home-based at NAS Lemoore operating from one Fleet Replacement [training] Squadron and sixteen Fleet [operational] Squadrons. In 2017, the F-35 Lightning II was received onboard NAS Lemoore, establishing the first F-35 Pacific training squadron.

Sweeter Than Honey

Bible in a Year:

Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

Proverbs 16:24

His topic was racial tension. Yet the speaker remained calm and collected. Standing on stage before a large audience, he spoke boldly—but with grace, humility, kindness, and even humor. Soon the tense audience visibly relaxed, laughing along with the speaker about the dilemma they all faced: how to resolve their hot issue, but cool down their feelings and words. Yes, how to tackle a sour topic with sweet grace.

King Solomon advised this same approach for all of us: “Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones” (Proverbs 16:24). In this way, “The hearts of the wise make . . . their lips promote instruction” (v. 23).

Why would a powerful king like Solomon devote time to addressing how we speak? Because words can destroy. During Solomon’s time, kings relied on messengers for information about their nations, and calm and reliable messengers were highly valued. They used prudent words and reasoned tongues, not overreacting or speaking harshly, no matter the issue.

We all can benefit by gracing our opinions and thoughts with godly and prudent sweetness. In Solomon’s words, “To humans belong the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the proper answer of the tongue” (v. 1).

Reflect & Pray

What is your way of speaking when talking about a hot and divisive topic? When you allow God’s Spirit to sweeten your tongue, what changes in your words?

Our holy God, when we speak on hard topics, soften our hearts and words with Your sweet Spirit.

Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...hope you had a lovely day, this Memorial Day.

Did you and Penny get out to hike? When does Blue go in for her facelift?

Overcast all day today here, but we did get a little over a 1/2” of rain....which is badly needed.

Blue’s appointment is June 1, so I have to wait a whole week without riding. With my luck it will probably be gorgeous weather! :-)

I have to get new hiking shoes before I do any serious hiking. The ones I have are all broken down inside.

Howdy, lauren.

Wasn’t able to get here early enough to catch you this evening. I hope all’s well down your way. There has been some wild weather down your way and with luck, you got to miss out on the “fun”.
