The resulting investigation cost almost $40 million and lasted 22 months.

The lost opportuniities, the utter distraction, the inability of this country to focus on anything that mattered cost a whole lot more than $40M. In fact, the distraction, the misdirection of the FBI and the CIA, having a bunch of hacks as National Security Advisor, who just kept the usual roster of deepstate hack stafffers, rather than Flynn, is a strongly contributing factor to our delays in dealing with CHICOM virus.

So yes, Sessions was derelict in his duties and like the CO of a ship that runs aground because he was more concerned with PC than a trained bridge crew, there is no forgiveness, nothing except shame and dishonor.

he was just in way over his head

He was not. He was a former US attorney and a former State AG. He had more experience going in than anyone. He just froze is all. It's like Halsey told Spruance before the latter sailed off to fight at Midway, "When in command, command."

Commmand Sessions didn't.

When I heard him say that investigating Hillary was a non-starter, that statement told me everything I needed to know about him.

Obama politicized them.

The Clintons politicized them. GWB didn't care. They could do whatever they wanted so long as he got to invade Iraq. Obama was just icing on the cake.

My money is on that Sessions was a deep state fail safe.
He could run interference for deep state buddies, and slow down or speed up anything they wanted.
He did a great job causing a lot of unnecessary headaches for PDJT, and stopping an ambitious about face in policy from the commie Odumbo.

FOJS!!! You soiled your reputation and standing, and hurt this Country in ways we cannot measure!!

Not me. I did that with Mc Cain and Romney. If the people nominate bastards like that. They can have him. Besides, if he betrayed President Trump once, he will do it again.

Admittedly I know nothing about Tuberville, but if Alabama sends Sessions back to Congress I think I’ll throw up.
*********
OK. Throw up and vote for him anyway — to keep the Senate — and save Country.

Is that what the GOPe did in 2016 with Hillary Criminal (and SCOTUS) on the ballot? No. Is that GOP did in the Alabama Senate race in 2017 with a GOP POTUS and his agenda in the balance? No. Senator Shelby barnstormed the state in support of progressive Democrat Doug Jones.

Given that level of disloyalty and obstruction, why should we send Sessions back to the swamp? What message does that send to the old bulls on the Senate? It says: don’t fear the base because they will never hold us accountable for aiding and abetting the ongoing coup against a GOP POTUS.

Sessions endorsed Trump early on. Nobody thought he was going to win then. Literally nobody. There was absolutely no reason at that time for some nefarious plot to be launched against Trump by the deep state.

Every four years the unwashed GOP base peasants are told by our betters that this is the most important election ever and to GOTV. Up until the Age of Trump I agreed with that opinion.

However, the behavior of the GOPe is 2016 is most instructive. Clearly, they did not think 2016 was the most important election ever. The list of prominent and elected Republicans who supported Hillary Clinton and her SCOTUS is staggering.

Never again should the GOP base blindly vote GOP party ticket. They must earn our votes after betraying the country so badly in 2016. Period.

Don’t know what you mean by a White Jones, because Tubbs and Jones are BOTH white. If the choice is Tubbs over Sessions, then I will chose Tubbs. The president vouched for Tubbs over Sessions. AND JONES HAS GOT TO GO AND THAT IS THE END OF IT!!! So, white, green, black, yellow, brown, red, orange, or pink polka dotted, Jones has got to GO!! Period.

If Trump ever sees Sessions again, he should punch him in the face. It would be just a start to what Sessions deserves for his treachery.

Yes. Burnt once by supporting Roy Moore when POTUS asked for Luther Strange I would not be burned again.

Glass is half full: he like a lot of Republican politicians try to play fair and be civil. Unfortunately, Democrats play dirty.

There are only two possibilities:

  1. UNINTENTIONAL
In his naiveté he let himself be buffaloed by democrats and other Trump haters into thinking honor required him to recuse himself.

  2. INTENTIONAL
He was acting as an agent of the Never-Trump movement, witting or unwitting.

Sessions serves as an outstanding example of why career senators don't often have much success in excutive positions
such as as presidents, cabinet secretaries, directors or managers.

Their success in a legislature is based on group-think, collaboration, give-and-take, consensus building or being part of coalitions.

Being the man in charge requires the ability and backbone to stand alone, make difficult decisions and implement them on your own.

Could you imagine Donald Trump, strong executive that he is, spending his career in the senate?

.

I can hate Sessions and support him if it means getting the seat back.

Sessions back in the Senate means we'll have another anti-Trump republican on our side of the aisle. The last thing we need is another hater like Romney. So I'm pulling for Tuberville in this.

Trump could have fired Sessions - and withdrawn the Rod Rosenstein nomination - sixty seconds after Sessions recused.

Instead, Trump did nothing.

He is the Commander in Chief.

Trump - and only Trump - is responsible for what happened next.

I think Sessions is done. Good man from a prior time where the party of Trump has passed him by. Tuberville is winning and should prevail and, though untested as a US Senator, is a strong Trump supporter.
