AHMAUD ARBERY FAMILY ATTORNEY SAYS FBI CONDUCTING CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION ... D.A.'S, Cops On The Hot Seat
TMZ ^ | 5/25/20

Posted on 05/25/2020 12:34:42 PM PDT by conservative98

The lawyer for Ahmaud Arbery's family says the federal authorities met with them last week and said they have launched a criminal investigation into the conduct of 2 district attorneys and members of the police department that allegedly covered up Ahmaud's killing.

Lee Merritt appeared Monday on "TMZ Live" and said the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia informed the family they were looking at both civil and criminal action against the officials.

Merritt also talked about the text message the police sent to a homeowner, telling him if there was "action" on his doorbell he should call Gregory McMichael, one of the accused murderers.

Merritt worries the police conduct may have effectively deputized the elder McMichael, such that the citizen's arrest laws don't apply and he would be treated as a law enforcement officer. As you know, McMichael's son, Travis, is the one who fired the shots, but Merritt says it could still be a problem given what the police did.

The FBI conducts criminal investigations?

Is this a new policy since the departure of James Comey?

Is it proven Travis fired the shots or did the other guy pull the gun firing the shot?

The son was not deputized and neither was the father. The lawyer is trying to muddy the water to expand the case. The family has already said that they want to prosecute more people.

My own personal experience litigating police brutality claims indicates that, when there are problems with both out of control local law enforcement organizations and suspicious actions by county district attorneys, there is usually money corruption involved. And the money corruption comes from drug traffic.

So it is not at all unusual for the FBI to take an interest. It didn't in my cases because the state Attorney General cleaned the mess up.

What if the investigation proves Ahmaud caused his death by attacking an armed ma?

Then the armed man must be imprisoned for the remainder of his natural life, as well as three others - the father, the neighbor and one randomly selected person from the neighborhood. It has to be done to avoid rioting and looting.

Agreed. He attack an armed man who attacked him. If an armed man confronted you out of know where, what would you do. It is irrelevant as to what he did or what they “think”, he did. I am not defending Arbery’s shady behavior, but no one should pick up a weapon and peruse someone who you think might have committed a crime unless it is an issue of life or death. If you do, you are subject to an investigation and or prosecution until otherwise proven justified.

Well the DA Screwed this up by not recusing and passing it on to another district, but no, they had to try to cover it up and hope everyone would forget about it.

The DA is screwed.

Zimmerman never claimed “citizen’s arrest” or that he was going to apprehend, detain, or arrest Trayvon

Zimmerman was only reporting location to the dispatcher

Zimmerman was waiting for police

During the trial (I now learned the trial witness was a fake witness) we learned that Trayvon made it home but went back out to find Zimmerman (creepy ass cracker)

Trayvon beat down Zimmerman and was slamming his head into the concrete sidewalk

Zimmerman defended himself in self defense using one shot after getting his butt handed to him by Trayvon

Now lets look at this case

McMichaels went out to pursue Arbery

They made a conscience decision to arm up with guns, Gregory took his hand gun and his son took a shot gun.

They did this because the believed Arbery was involved in a theft where Travis’s gun was stolen out of his car

Citizens are not permitted under any law in the united states to arm up and chase down suspected dangerous criminals

They saw Arbery running past the house, however they did not witness any felonies committed by Arbery at that moment

They took a pick up truck to go looking for him, they had help from another neighbor. They attempted to trap Arbery twice with their pick up trucks but Arbery would just jog around them. Escaping their “arrest” attempts

Travis, having none of this anymore, goes ahead of Arbery, gets out of his pick up truck with his shot gun and Arbery just jogs on the opposite side of the truck away from Travis. Travis walks in front of the truck to meet the jogging Arbery with his shot gun. Travis shots his first shot at the jogger. Arbery lunges towards Travis and off camera, Travis shoots Arbery a 2nd time. Arbery attempts to grab the shot gun away from Travis, however Travis shots his 3rd and fatal blow to Arbery, killing him in the middle of the street.

Gregory gets out of the back of the truck and searches the body for the stolen gun, no gun was on Arbery.

One was a self defense but the other was cold blooded murder.

Yeah, Merritt really worries about that. Merritt is working on how to make some money. A criminal conviction does not come with a check. Even if there were a conviction, Arbery's estate could not sue the municipality unless... the McMichaels were acting as agents of the government. Suing the government is where the money is at.
