Venezuela, a country already in crisis, is preparing for the looming coronavirus pandemic.
The price of food has increased by 80% since lockdown and fuel is being rationed. It's unheard of in a country that sits on the world's largest oil reserves

Ironic the country with the worlds largest oil reserves is suffering fuel shortages.
Ironic.
This is satire, right?
How can an oil rich country be suffering from fuel shortages?
What is it about the structure of their economy or their society, that creates such a contradiction? What sort of system in place would cause fuel shortages when they are so abundant in the natural resources needed?
Ironic isnt the word I would use.
Socialists love rationing scarce resources:
Health care
Bread
Gasoline
The only problem is that free markets create abundance so there’s a scarcity of things that need rationing.
No satire.
The US is a major food producer having one of the most efficient farming systems on the planet.
If the “Cuomo’s, Newsom’s, Whitmer’s, Wolfe’s, and all democrats” and the ultra hard left AOC types get their way the US will have a food shortage.
If they get the chance they will go full Pol Pot and flood these farms with city people with all the farming knowledge of Michael Bloomberg.
The only problem is the 2A is hampering their progress.
LOL Michael Bloomberg on a farm. He knows everything about farming. You just dig a hole, plant a seed, and water it. You mean there is more to farming than that????
sarcasm
Shortages R Us!
(Okay, not for the elite party bosses, they're remarkably well-stocked.)
dId we stop the tankers headed for Vene?
Since the country is run by despotic socialists, there is little hope for them.
The revenues will, as usual, end up in the hands of the countries wealthiest, most powerful families. The poor, also as usual, get the short end of the stick.
Who’s paying Iran for the $$45.5 million worth of gasoline and similar products. I’ll bet there’s weapons/missiles on those tankers too.
Venezuela was already suffering from severe food shortage, for years.
What this means is that the wealthy are beginning to have to do without.
Hah, Makes truth of the old ridicule of carrying coal to Newcastle.
Rhodesia was the breadbasket of Africa. Zimbabwe can't feed themselves.
I hope they had stocked up on zoo animals before the lockdown.
