Sessions recusing himself and letting the deepsters run rampant was a dereliction of duty of the highest order. It’s like the Captain of a ship turning his back on the fact that his crew has mutinied against the United States and is really fighting for the enemy.

Recusing himself wasn’t the problem. Even if he wasn’t legally obligated to do so, the political optics of him staying in that role would have been terrible — especially since it is now obvious that he was probably under illegal surveillance for the entire duration of the campaign.

The real problem with Sessions was that he didn’t resign the AG post completely. In fact, the only thing worse than that is that Trump ever hired him in the first place ... though it must be pointed out that there wasn’t exactly an all-star cast of candidates for the AG post at the time.
