Fox News senior judicial analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano said Friday that President Trump does not have the authority he says he does when it comes to overriding governors who will not allow churches or synagogues to reopen.
However, Napolitano told "The Daily Briefing" that the governors' bans are "ill-advised" and that the president does have one major recourse should a state executive fail to listen to his orders.
"In a word, no," he said of Trump's authority on the matter.

The Gay elf speaks.
DOJ has already been working with churches. Nap seems to be behind.
Always been an idiot.
Well, he is correct and Barr should be all over this PDQ
Governors don’t have the authority to lock down Churches in the first place
LBJ marched the NG into Alabama to enforce civil rights.
Hopefully, it won’t come to that in this case....but then again, these communists are outright rabid power mad...so it might.
He has them boxed in. The Dem governors now either publicly “obey Trump”, OR they start a big loud fight right before the election to demand they be allowed to close churches.
He is the master at putting flaming bags of dog crap on their porch. And they always come out and stomp on them!
Apparently Nappy has never heard of the 1st and 14th amendments.
State-state of emergencies, and a national emergency.
He has a lot of powers that he’s not exercising.
You’re absoutely 100% correct.
“as essential as is the right to worship, as fundamental as it is — as absolutely protected by the First Amendment as it is, the president does not have any authority to override the governors,” “
The 14th amendment means the 1st cannot be abridged by the state. Trump will act, and just before an election, the Governors will sue him and fight for the right to close churches. OR... they can be seen as bending to his will. Either way, they lose.
That is an absolutely fabulous analogy, and spot on!
“”””’He is the master at putting flaming bags of dog crap on their porch. And they always come out and stomp on them!””””
Exactamundo. Just like in Michigan. He told them to get it open and get people back to work. The governor then said she will keep the lockdown in place until mid June.
So now the residents hate her even more.

Trump can over-ride because it is a violation of the First Amendment to prohibit the practice of ones religion, and the president can step in on solid ground for protecting the First Amendment.
Oh, shut up. Ain’t nobody obeying The Constitution right now anyways.
Trump is critical of the church bans, but he need not do anything more to get the public to respond, in larger and larger numbers, and with more passion and resolve.
These conspiratorial totalitarian wannabee govs are the ones in the wrong, as they do not have standing or the right to deny their citizen’s First Amendment Rights. Lawsuit after protest after voluble agitated denunciation will follow, hardly what an incumbent gov needs in an election year. And if they are not up for re-election, a recall movement can be started in earnest, as the summer has just begun!
Talk about hair splitting. The AG works for the POTUS. If the POTUS says “these states are violating civil rights, sue them” the AG will do it, and the states will lose. It’s not a question of “ordering” anyone. The bully pulpit should work quite well but when it doesn’t that is why the DOJ has a civil rights division.
Have DOJ go after states on violation of First Amendment. That IS Trump telling states to churches up.
