President Donald Trump warned governors Friday that if they don't reopen the nation's houses of worship "right now," he will "override" them.
Trump demanded the reopening in brief remarks announcing that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, at his direction, will issue new guidelines to smooth the process.
"Today I am identifying houses of worship, churches, synagogues, and mosques, as essential places that provide essential services, Trump said at his appearance, during which he took no questions. "Some governors have deemed liquor stores and abortion clinics as essential, but have left out churches and other houses of worship. It's not right."
He called on governors to "do the right thing and allow these very important essential places of faith to open right now. For this weekend. If they don't do it, I will override the governors. In America, we need more prayer, not less."
Trump said with his action, he is "correcting this injustice and calling houses of worship essential, adding that he wanted to thank CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield and the CDC for their work on this matter, but if there's any question about reopening churches, "they're going to have to call me, but they are not going to be successful in that call."
"These are places that hold our society together and keep our people united," Trump said. "The people are demanding to go to church, and synagogue, or to their mosque. Many millions of Americans embrace worship as an essential part of life."
The nation's "ministers, pastors, rabbis, imams, and other faith leaders will make sure that their congregations are safe as they gather and pray," said Trump. "I know them well. They love their congregations. They love their people. They don't want anything bad to happen to them or to anybody else."

When did THAT happen?
Yes. Sir.
The Freaks can try to change that, but they fail. And fail miserably.
Soros?
Red as in bloody.
“Lets see if Benito Coomo complies like he did when President Trump demanded that old people with covid be placed in nursing homes.”
WTF are you talking about...
“New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo unveiled a requirement for hospital patients to test negative for the coronavirus before they can be discharged to nursing homes. This effectively reversed a much-criticized state policy that required long-term care facilities to accept recovering patients who may still test positive for COVID-19.”
Ping.
Is means “is”.
Guidance is guidance. Nothing more.
You’ll have to aks Benito Coomo. He’s the one who blamed his decision on President Dr. Trump.
Your sentence could have been written better. Then I wouldn’t have gotten the wrong conclusion from it.
The President encouraged churches to follow CDC guidelines issued today. Is everyone on board withe him on this?
On Friday the C.D.C.s new guidelines for religious communities suggested that they consider a number of limitations to keep congregations safe. Among them:
Take steps to limit the size of gatherings in accordance with the guidance and directives of state and local authorities.
Consider suspending or at least decreasing use of a choir/musical ensembles and congregant singing, chanting, or reciting during services or other programming, if appropriate within the faith tradition. The act of singing may contribute to transmission of Covid-19, possibly through emission of aerosols.
Consider temporarily limiting the sharing of frequently touched objects that cannot be easily cleaned between persons, such as worship aids, prayer rugs, prayer books, hymnals, religious texts and other bulletins, books, shared cups, or other items received, passed or shared among congregants.
But thus it's always been. I only have a few short years left on this planet so no use changing now.
No worries. I’ll try to remember.
What CDC says is irrelevant. Trump made that perfectly clear in the last paragraph.
And I’ll try to remember to use that /s thingy more often..
However, information about how churches and other houses of worship should reopen was not included. According to Politico, the Trump administration did not want anything on the subject included because it could be construed as religious discrimination.
There was talk of putting out no guidance at all on religious services, but Trump had conversations with CDC officials Thursday and urged them to issue something. After he spoke Friday, guidelines were released by the CDC.
May be so. But that is not what the article said.
Open invite for them to defy their governors and knowing he has their back if the stupid governors decide to .....get stupid...er...
Who has the authority?
Thank you. I had not read that statute before. Makes sense.
Looks like the current DOJ/FBI leaders could be punished under those rules.
decided to: get stupid...er..??
Some are stupid, others are evil.
Both are criminal
